LSU hasn’t done anything - yet. But take look at resumes of teams that would sneak into tourney right now. Tigers can make up ground quick.

quote:

Go try & find 40-something at-large teams out there right now. Trust me. Those on the 12-line don’t exactly have eye-popping resumes.

quote:

My point: Go fill out entire bracket, then tell me how much ground LSU/California needs to make up on final at-large team. Not that much.

quote:

Couple wins over ranked teams & LSU can get on right side of the bubble. Easier said than done with way Tigers playing right now, but. …

Moral of the story:

We haven't put ourselves in the best position TODAY, but there are still plenty of opportunities to play into the field. The season truly starts when Victor returns.

Unless Victor plays like a Michigan St forward, this team will remain too soft to win meaningful games.

Its laughable to think, but we will have to go 14-4 or 13-5 at worst in conference to make the tournament. And we play Kentucky 2x's, at Vandy, A&M twice, and Florida twice.
The wake Forest and Oklahoma games are almost must wins since they are both at home

If we can get some wins out of Oklahoma, Florida, Vanderbilt, Kentucky x2; we can make a case.

Nc St will be solid teams. Marquette is now 8-2 I believe. Charleston hurt though.

What everyone keeps saying is wait for this one and wait for that one. Having Hornsby back did make a huge difference but he was hung out to dry on a lot of plays. He is standing in his spot and waving his hand and we have Gray running into people and throwing the ball up. I love Quarterman but he was guilty of this as well. What I have seen over the past three years is a lack of coaching. I am an alum just like Jones but that doesn't make me qualified to coach LSU.

Truth, I'm getting pretty negative...

CJJ's defensive philosophy of guards guarding 35 feet away when we have no shot blockers AND college basketball rules don't allow you to touch players in mind boggling. His lack of adjustments is literally killing me. Last night was literally the worst I've ever seen.

Victor may or may not be the answer, but I find it hard to believe if he was that good that he still would not be in Tuscon.

By no means are we out of the ncaa tournament but charleston and houston are games that really hurt. Beat kentucky and those games are no big deal anymore. Of course we either have to start playing defense alot better or forget about it completely and go early 90s loyola marymount style gameplan if we want to do that.

He had 3 NBA ready players in front of him and one of his parents got sick. He ultimately didn't want to be away from home. It's not like he transferred because he simply sucked.

if we beat Oklahoma and get a couple out of a&m, vandy, Uk, uf we can almost certainly go 12-6. Big ifs but still.

It's disappointing we are talking about being an 11seed, I honestly thought we had a chance at a NC. We just look like dogshit on defense

Arizona is leaps and bounds a better program than us though (and their coach is only the second best coach in his own family, HIRE ARCHIE MILLER!). I don't think it's unrealistic to think he could be a difference maker for us, but just a guy there.

I just think he needs to be a very specific type of player for us if his play is going to have any meaningful impact on this team.

I've seen him in practice and a few scrimmages and he is literally EXACTLY what we need. Just hope it's not too late. He can knock down open jumpers, plays aggressive, dives on the floor, has some post moves. People write him off because he left Zona, but the guy was a top 40 player coming out, he has skill

I'm hanging by a thread. We've been waiting for this season for so long, and this is not what I expected.

I was thinking of being a possible 3-4 seed before this all started. It's been a major disappointment to say the least.

I will still watch every game I can and pull for LSU to win every game they play. But I'm tired of Johnny Jones and want a change after this season.

So we will see very soon if Victor can help. The team must gel.

Worried about the SEC games and fear that OK will blow us out on tv which will really hurt our chances.

forever LSU!

I can't say I want CJJ gone because he's a good guy and a diehard LSU guy. I got to the point where I wanted Brady and Trent fired and it's miserable to get to that point of fandom.

With that said, it's quite obvious CJJ's shortcomings, and it's sooooo easy to fix...but I guess he's unwilling to do so. Honestly, if we simply told all of our defenders not to cross the 3-point line, we would be so much better. Our problem is players get into the lane. It's a simple simple simple fix. I just don't get this man to man 35-40 feet away. It's definition of insanity. We continue to do it expecting different results.

We have the talent to do it, but so far this team doesn't know how to play basketball.

NC State, Marquette and Houston will all likely make a post-season tournament. The only real head-scratcher thus far is the Charleston game. The Tigers must have a win over a top-25 team just to offset that horrible loss. North Florida will also likely make the post-season. The Tigers have enough top 60 teams on their schedule to pile up a convincing resume. Have to hold service at home and win several road games. Easier said than done. Must beat Wake and OK at home as others have stated. Victor will help defense and rebounding. Don't give up yet folks.

Agreed. And of those 3 mentioned, 1 point and 2 OT games. Obviously still count as losses, but that will be weighted in the selection committee
