Why not? There's nothing wrong with not standing for the national anthem or not saluting the flag this isn't North Korea. The whole point of America is you can voice displeasure with the regime and not be persecuted for it. I see a lot of you over on the Poli board disparaging the president and many other high ranking officials. I bet y'all are glad you have your first amendment then.

Its amazing that this comment had 49 dislikes. Its amazing that the very people who get all ruffled when someone questions their 2nd amendment gun rights, get but hurt when anyone expresses their 1st amendment right of free speech. I love my country. But I'm equally shocked by the archaic thinking of many of its citizens who are plagued with backwards minds, and suedo intelligence. I pray that I'm able to avoid not only the so called thug, but also the "caveman" in a suit. They are both threats to the American way of life.

The NFL is in decline for political reasons...if LSU players want to help destroy college football too, it will be the "minorities" who will suffer the most...I hope calmer and wiser heads pervail!

False. The NFL is not in decline. If it has an issue its a health issue. The NFL is as popular as it's ever been. I also don't think less of Eric Reid. I hope most tiger fans remember that Eric Reid is a stand up guy. I'm more inclined to recieve this type of demonstration with an open mind when a person like Eric Reid does it because I know of his character. A person that walks the walk can do this. My impression of Cap has always been that he is a clown. I have empathy for the real issue of systematic racism and true acts of police brutality and for a guy willing to take some heat off of his teammate by putting himself in the line of media fire. Not so much the half baked ill conceived protest of a narcisstic social media whore. The fact that ESPN mentioned his protest in the same category as Muhammad Ali is so gross. What a joke that they would give him that credence. He has sacrificed nothing. Ali gave up 3 years of his prime in the midst of the civil rights movement. Cap decides to sacrifice the horse for the cart and of all the things he could do with his platform he decides one blanket display of disrespect will somehow fuel change. Quit football, void your contract and give up 3 years in your prime and I will respect the shite out of you.

Study by Harvard professor shows no racial bias in police shootings.

"Mr. Fryer, who is black, told The New York Times that the finding of no racial discrimination in police shootings was “the most surprising result of my career.”

I think Eric is an even lower life for being able to earn money playing a game that is meaningless that he's not particularly good at but still stands against our nation

I understand and appreciate protest

I don't understand disrespect for two sacred things

Our Flag and our National Anthem.

Those are two things that should remind us all, no matter what other struggles we are having, that we live in a great country together.

Then you don't have to hate those you have differing views with. I go about my day, knowing full well, there is a movement out there named BLM. And I go about my day just fine. Don't have a single frick to give.

I don't agree with them, but I don't give them the time a day but know it's their right to do whatever the hell they want as long as it's legal.

Sitting for the national anthem is legal in the USA.

Respect is a two way street. Eric feels that he is disrespected by his country. It's a valid claim.

You're right it is. But when it grants a mush head millions of dollars you'd expect some appreciation

Then you aren't worthy of having any respect shown towards you. Not everyone will agree in life with decisions but it's his RIGHT to express his belief in any manner he chooses so as it doesn't break any laws or hurt anyone

I don't think he was suggesting that Reid be arrested and thrown into jail for his opinion.

The thought that you can't lose respect for someone's stated opinion is ridiculous.

Reid is now dead to me. He has committed an almost unpardonable act. I suppose if he made a public apology for his mistake, I could forgive him. Until then, he can rot for all I care. It just goes to show how one mistake can eradicate a lifetime of goodwill. Never really cared for the 49ers, but now will pull for their annihilation week in and week out. God Bless America!!!

My bad. I thought you were gone for a while taking the bar. My pops is a retired full Col USA airborne Ranger.

I get the patriotism aspect of standing for the National Anthem, but now his teammates are putting an arm around him for taking a stand against the illusory issue of police brutality. It's not a slap against America and E Reid kneels with his retarded teammate, it's like Rudolph sitting with the autistic kid who was eating alone at the cafeteria table. He's trying to comfort the autistic kid nobody wants to be around. Eric Reid is a quality individual.
