Yep. It's the same shite we watched with Cam Cameron. He rolled up using NFL terminology, schemes and play names then got pissed when kids couldn't grasp the concepts. Calling shite 1,000 names is something you see in NFL playbooks. We have to learn to adapt to 18-21yr olds.

But 9 games into a season these aren’t new players anymore.

Like how the frick do people excuse our 24 point performance vs Arkansas?

You realize that either way conveys the message? Well, obviously you don't, but you should.

Exactly!

But we go 4 wide (sometimes) so it’s modern.

shite as good as Burrow is, many teams just make audibles from the sideline?

Because your coach shoukd Always know thenoffense better than a fricking college kid.

Learning the playbook is on the player. You can’t force players to study it. It appeared to me that playing time was given based on preparedness. The problem with that was that we had much less talented players out there in key moments.

IMO some of the problems on offense this year were because NFL coaches (Cregg and Sullivan) were coaching immature college players. They may be great tacticians, but managing kids is a big part of the job

I paid attention to our WRs a little more during the A&M game and more than a few times we had 2 or sometimes 3 WRs withing 5yds of each other when their routes ended. Either Ensminger is the dumbest football coach on the planet or those WRs ran the wrong route, broke it off early/too shallow/too deep, etc.

I'm sure there will no shortage of fans throwing players under the bus in this thread in order to defend O and E

You can probably guess who they are without reading it too

Audible systems can be extremely simple or extremely complex. Maybe E just needs to simplify the system somewhat.

These coaches with these modern college offenses have said they can be fully installed in under a week.

It begs the question of why we were only 35% installed (or whatever was said) by the time Miami rolled around.

Also begs the question of why we would go up and study the Saints and the Rams offense. Those are NFL offenses, run by players whose entire job is playing football.

That said, hell of a job by the head football coach and his staff this season. I deeply appreciate everything they've done for LSU.

Because this staff insists on installing a complex scheme filled with play-actions that take for-fricking-ever to develop.

We still very much have a prostyle mindset

And honestly as long as we are dealing with college kids that will be an issue.

I used to make fun of system QBs, but now I’m just wish we had a system that could take a guy like Danny Wuerffel and win something.

I’m not a fan of this offense in college unless you have some incredible line. I also don’t like how often Cam and now E seem to run PA. Seemed like we ran it too often considering the offense couldn’t block much.. especially considering we didn’t have much of a running threat.

I long for the day our offense can get in a rhythm with the short-mid range passing.

Bigno. I don't think a single high school in America is putting a QB under center anymore other than John Curtis.

I wonder what they did all off season then. These guys have the entire playbook at their disposal to learn. Honestly shouldn’t be any excuses at this level

Yes.

As others have said, if there are one or two players struggling with certain concepts, it would make sense that that one or two players either aren't putting in the work or just can't grasp it. But when it's whole groups of players struggling with concepts, I think its emblematic of deeper issues. I look at our inability to effectively run a simple screen pass in week 11 against Rice to tell me all I need to know about our offensive staff's ability to reach the players and teach them. Bottom line is we need massive changes on offense this offseason.
