LSU is not a great rebounding team....Emmitt is about 19th in the SEC. All I am saying is he is trying to attract the NBA the wrong way.....next he will wear war paint. He is a good player but he is a 4 or 3 !! He needs a 10-15 shot. I don't get upset about LSU sports, just enjoy them and comment......

Will be a very good college basketball player when it's all said and done.

Right now he's not ready to be on an nba roster.

Emmitt is doing just fine. You idiots that try and manage player's pro careers instead of acknowledging the great work they do for our team are obnoxious to say the least.

And he's played almost 2 full games less of game time than alll but one guy ranked in front of him(he was 30 minutes behind that guy). He's averaging 11.5 rebs per 40. 2nd in offensive rebound % in the conference.

LINK

Conference Team and Opponent Stats:

Offensive Rebounds - 97 (1st)
Total Rebounds - 280 (2nd)

That is in the 7 conference games, which every SEC team has played 7 conference games thus far. So we've grabbed the most offensive rebounds of any SEC team in SEC play and we're 2nd in total rebounds.

Heck, just on top of that, if you've watched us play AT ALL in conference play, there's no way you would say we dont rebound well. I mean, we have utterly dominated a couple SEC teams on the glass.

Right. But this thread is specifically geared towards what it will take to make it in the NBA. Lets stay on topic..

Where did I say he wasn't doing just fine? Their is no basketball game today. Am I not allowed to talk about our players on the off day? C'mon man take your negativity elsewhere. This is a message board. People are supposed to talk hypotheticals and analyze our players. I think this post fits that category.

Well I sure hope so. As of right now he rebounds like him but does not dribble, pass, or shoot like him. I don't think that's a very accurate comparison though.. At least not at this time.

Anyone who makes the comment we are not a good rebounding team has not watched LSUMBB play much this year. Rebounding, both on O and D, are a major strength of this team.

If your so certain this is a major strength of our team (Which I'm right there with you) why would you breath any validity into a troll's post? You do know it's really easy to sign up to post on message boards right? Just ignore them man. Your only adding to their beliefs by mentioning it.

We started off really poor on the glass when Wade was using the small lineup and had Naz at the 5 spot. Ever since he’s gone with Bigby and Taylor with Emmitt and Days off the bench we’ve been a really good rebounding team. So the stats don’t represent what we are now. As far as emmitts projections he’s a better athlete and more talented but you can compare what his projection will have to look like to Dante Cunningham who used to play for the Pels. Cunningham was a 4 in college for Nova who didn’t shoot 3s and went to the NBA very undersized but worked on his range and became a viable 3 point shooter to remain in the league. This is what Emmitt will have to do. He may still grow some but at 6-6 he’s not going to be a post up player at the next level.

Best comparison I've heard. Definitely forgot about Cunningham. Thanks!

As a McDonald's All American

He wasn't a McDonalds player. He played in the Jordan/Brand classic. The only freshman that played in the McDonalds was Naz. I think concerning his time at LSU he is being looked at as a post player-rebounder, low post scorer, post defender.

Yeah I fixed it in my comments. But he did have a record performing performance in the classic. Mostly dunks but still only missed one shot.

I have watch every game and was an LSU ALUMNUS BEFORE Dale Brown arrived.....They are much better at rebounding now than the start of the season. My original point was Emmitt needs to attract the pros with deeds instead of looks...then it was said LSU was #1 at rebounding and I googled it an they were #7......I dont have time for the BS on the board...I have a life and am not on the rant like some....

He's a tweener, but I think he will be a solid basketball player for LSU once he learns the college game. I wouldn't rule the NBA out, but I think he knows he has to develop his game and improve his shooting before he even attempts that move.
