But Monday is “Tell the Truth” day at LSU’s football operation building, and Orgeron’s message was decidedly more urgent, especially if the Tigers (10-0, 6-0 SEC), who host Arkansas on Saturday, want to contend for a national championship.

quote:

“I look at how as coaches what we can do to get better. I think yesterday we spent three hours looking at four plays,” Orgeron said. “We give them the right things to do at the right time, and then it’s obviously up to them.”

quote:

Stevens said LSU defensive players had an “emotional” meeting on Monday. “I was disappointed in how we played. I expect so much from this defense,” said Stevens, who also was highly critical of LSU’s defense after the game on Saturday night. “We didn’t perform in a positive way. I felt like I needed to kind of light a fire. I felt like I did. Now that we’ve got everything on the table we’ll definitely be focused and ready to go for Arkansas.”

AP - No. 1 LSU’s defensive concerns have Orgeron looking inward

My favorite thing about this is that the defense put themselves under a microscope, as thy should be. That’s good to see and hopefully it translates on the field.

At some point though, it has to be on the players. You can dial up all the blitzes and call the coverage to perfection, but if you are physically and mentally outplayed it doesn't really matter.

Right on schedule, as soon as a little bit of bad press shows up....so does Tiger Ree. I've got to give it to you, you are dedicated.

But we barely blitzed. When we blitzed we were creating negative plays. It’s not like we were bringing the house and they gashed us a few times. We just played blah defense and the players got smoked

Maybe it's what this team needed, to be embarrassed By Ole Piss's offense..

Oh, don’t say that on this board. I have been attacked REPEATEDLY here because I’ve aid the same thing. When a player fails, it’s NEVER his fault. It’s 100%, every time on the coaches, NO MATTER WHAT.

This board doesn’t understand that there’s a line where coaching ends and execution begins. Posters here will argue until they’re blue in the face that such a thing doesn’t exist.

I think O and the coaches will get it figured out. I'm not expecting 85 bears but damn.

What's next if they won't do what O told them to do? It's Aranda's responsibilities to prep players to get ready for a game, including coaching and scheming.

Relax Jacoby, the fans don’t expect more. Just don’t lose, or else.

The #1 team in the country is trying to improve their play?

Strange that you think that is bad press. I think it is a good thing the coaches are concerned and looking at themselves for improvement. At the same time the players are concerned and looking at themselves for improvement.

Maybe that is bad news for you - Good luck with that.

I think the Ole Miss reality check was a good thing. Keeping LSU on their toes and prepared, instead of complacent.

what? We were getting gashed playing straight up. Blitzing doesnt fix what happened saturday. Gap discipline and our dline not getting pushed back 2 yards, olinemen running free in our lb corp fixed Saturday. We got burned Saturday by off tackle run plays. Not sitting back and refusing to blitz.

We are talking about the same scheme and defensive philosophy that kept us relevant the last 3 years while our offense was way worse than what the defense is this year, right?
