We really don't have enough information to know.

The reports of compression hose along with reports here of apparent swollen legs at practice, indicate a likely component of congestive heart failure (CHF). CHF can absolutely complicate other conditions, and other conditions can absolutely complicate CHF. That may be what we are looking at with the sepsis dx. A hip whack during practice with preexisting CHF could absolutely lead to the end point being described.
