Yeah so he was similar to everyone on the team besides Holman, Jump, and Herring.

For example, Little had more hits and walks per innings pitched than Dutton. I actually haven’t said he was a great pitcher or that it’s a huge loss for LSU. Apparently if you don’t go along with the narrative that an LSU player is trash then you somehow become a family member of the player.

It says very little. He had a good outing against Tennessee in the postseason and he was used very often against SEC teams in his career at LSU.

His career numbers are pedestrian to below average. He’s just another arm in this league. Keep shilling for him all you want, but it is what it is.

Right, who said he wasn’t? Apparently you think every team has a roster filled with nothing but aces. I have news for you. All rosters will have pitchers who are just another arm in this league. Not acting like he’s trash and crowning him as an ace are two different things.

Sorry but I don’t stand to gain anything by not bashing the guy. It is what it is.

Ack was more consistent, went further in games and was more trusted by the staff, especially late in the season. He wasn’t perfect, but he was hell of a lot better than Dutton in the postseason. Helmers was also more trusted and dependable in the SEC Tourney and Regional.

Jay’s decision to start Dutton vs UNC turned out to be a big reason we are at home right now. And why did he start then- because we went through the loser’s bracket and had burned through several other options. The fact that Hurd got the ball in the previous lose or go home game should tell you plenty about where Dutton really was in the pecking order. And Hurd is about as unreliable as it gets.

That’s great. They had basically the same era. It’s interesting you pick our longest reliever to compare him to when they weren’t in the same role. You can do singular comparisons with any number of guys.

Yeah if you go back and read I already mentioned that Dutton’s numbers were good until the postseason.

Who mentioned anything about the pecking order? Nobody said Dutton should have gotten the start. JJ liked Hurd and Dutton. He said it many times. The reason Hurd gets the ball is because of his potential to shut people down when his stuff is on. JJ was hoping for more postseason magic from.

really confused on this transfer. If he wanted to be a consistent starter I would have figured he would have gone to a lower level like Tech, Southeastern, or Tulane. I am very confused to his transfer to stay in the SEC. I guess he believes he can be something for them. Wish him the best.

He's an Alabama native and Auburnt is the closest SEC school to his hometown. I'd think that ending his career in the SEC and in front of family had something to do with his decision.
