The stuff pointed out on offense is stuff me and my BB Coach buddy noticed all season. All those elbow jumpers Simmons didn't take that led to forced shots by his teammates. He's a lefty, but switches to his right when challenged at the rim. It has the effect of shooting a fade away. Absorb the contact and score thru the defender. As for defense, no one else played any for LSU either. Dude is still a pro talent. He just wasn't challenged at LSU by his teammates or the coaches.

Don't hate him. He was overrated and had a negative effect on the team. Jones should of treated like everyone else on the team. Its no doubt the team was not on the Simmons train. Probably will cost Jones his job.

All of these "new" scuting reports after he has been praised all year are part of the conspiracy. The NBA has to ensure that Simmons ends up in L.A. and not Philly, but it can't appear too obvious. The setup is now in play.

Are people in here really saying that Martin / Mickey were better than Simmons at LSU and that they have more upside in the NBA than Simmons? Really?

KG-I'm with you man, imagine the numbers Simmons could have put up if he had a competent point guard that can feed the post. LSU guards had NO clue on how to feed Simmons once he had his man pinned. Basic fundamentals of ANY guard is to learn how to feed the post.

That fed into Simmons frustrations. He is fundamentally sound in his passing, yet Quarterman, Patterson, Gray could not get him the ball on numerous occasions when he had the advantage. But yet I don't hear how incompetent the guard play was this year.

If there was ever a true application for the South Park underpants gnomes list, Johnny Jones was it.

1. Collect Ben Simmons
2. ?????
3. Profit

Precisely. Simmons was LSU's only consistent post threat but the only guy who could occasionally get him the ball when and where he needed it was Quaterman and that was a rarity.

It's crazy. But I'm sure these same folks were absolutely dogging Mickey after the missed FTs versus NC State and were saying he was crazy to go pro and "good luck in Europe".

People like you need to stop it. He was better than Martin or Mickey. He put up numbers we will never, ever see a freshman do again at LSU, or possibly anywhere. This team tanked because Johnny just didn't have clue #1 how to get them to play together or give effort more than 50% of the time.

Calm down Susie!

Getting the ball to our big man is on the coach to teach. Period

GeeOH-my son coaches High School basketball, and EVERY player on his team KNOWS how to feed the post. There is a drill he teaches called "FEED THE POST" drill. if you are playing college basketball as a point guard you shouldn't have to depend on your college coach to teach that.

I don't think JJ is the coach for LSU. Most of this season made me sick. But I actually believe there are people who hope BS isn't drafted #1 so they can claim their thoughts on Ben are correct. It's mind-boggling.

When you watch what's going on in the NCAA Tourney, it's quite evident his teams both this season and last were over-matched and under-prepared.

Whose fault was it last year when the team lead by 14 points in the NCAA tournament and ended-up losing it? They still lost to Texas A&M twice last season as well. Also, they only made a 1 game appearance in the SEC Tournament against Auburn after getting a double-bye.

When some of the same things keep showing up year after year, it's not about on player. This is more of a trend of the coaching philosophy, preparation, and existing members (i.e. culture) of the team than it is of Ben Simmons alone.

Yep, and it makes my brain bleed to hear the guys blaming the point. I would say when an offense is efficient and run correctly, the ballbis fes into the post by someone other than the point guard 80% of the time.

Half the time JJ had him out of the paint. It was just stupid coaching 101 watching LSU this year.
