With a coach with a top tier salary, the idea should be to be in a championship game every season; not merely win more than we lose. Whether it be SEC or National we should be able to compete for this every year. We should not settle for second tier or mediocrity in playing or coaching.
well, sat lsu was playing for the opportunity to play in the championship. that's what you want every season, right?

name the sec coach that has EVER been able to sustain that kind of success

Ill name two, Meyer, going on Third title in 4 years, excuse me if he wasnt in the top two 3 years ago..
Saban, last two years (since he has rebuilt the program) has been in the top two, with no signs of slowing down, only getting stronger..

then you should be very happy because miles wins more than the vast majority of his competitors.

paid the same as Meyer and Saban, still gets beat...Roughly same talent...

name the sec qb's who have a better pass efficiency rating than jefferson

Jefferson's passer rating is artificially high, when he does throw he throws short throws (high completion %, (and if he's that good why does every commentator in the United States say QB is our weakness.?? Its a false pretense...the next closest QB with the amount of sacks he has has twice the number of throws..

you have an interesting perspective because for 3 quarters, nick saban's mighty defense was getting pushed around by jefferson, crowton and dumb ole miles

which game were you watching?

let's see how meyer does over the long haul first. he's got a long, long, long way to catch up to spurrier

actually he already passed him last year, he has two titles, spurrier had one...

Compete for it does not = win it.

We were very much competing for both this year. It didn't work out.

Kudos to Saban's coaching ability to get it up and going. Don't know about his ability to keep it going, as he's never seemed to stay anywhere long enough before the "greener pastures" mentality kicks in.

We'll see how Meyer will do without Tebow next year. If he has Florida still cruising in the top 5 at end of season, then I'll maybe be as sold on him as you are.

All we have to do is win the SEC, usually. We're in the NC. The team has come together this year, and are good enough to compete in a championship game, and not be an embarrassment.

Now I don't know what the problem was in the first of the year, but I ranted that it had to be the coaching. Whatever.

I do know that - minus the injuries and the screwing with the refs - we might be headed to whip Florida's arse, in Georgia. Good enough for me.

I'm pissed, and hurt. But not on account of Miles. I would like him to step up, and take it to Slive, et al. It's Mile's players that got screwed. Just like your kids...you stick up for them, even if it hurts. I won't hold my breath.

uh it took a miracle 4th to come back from Troy St. Plus it was Saban's 1st year 2nd Game...
Utah was a good team I believe that year...and ended up being ranked 2nd in the country..

Give Meyer some credit. he may have had Tebow, but he also had to know how to get the best out of him.

Not just 10-2, but look who those 2 losses are to, and one of them is on the road! Compare him to Pete Carroll, whom most people consider to be in Meyer & Saban's league. His team got blown out by Oregon. HAs Miles gotten blown out by a team he wasn't SUPPOSED to lose to? I'm not talking about losing close games to teams we were probably supposed to lose to. I'm talking UAB-ULM type losses. Compare him to Charlie Weis who is regarded as an Xs & Os genius, and has a Heisman candidate for QB. Guy can't do much more than he has done for this program. I have come to the conclusion that there are just some people on this board who call themselves "fans" but who really root for LSU to lose just so they can sit back and say "Told you so." They were probably the same people who bitched about LSU paying Saban so much when we hired him, who complained because he didn't smile enough or eat out enough, or because he didn't wear socks with his tassled loafers. GIVE ME A BREAK.

the defense is getting better every game with a first year staff.

the offense is getting better in the last 3 games and has a bright future.

lsu was up in the 4th quarter on a very good team on the road and lost 3 starters. otherwise, lsu had saban's defense on it's heels.

Penalty's in crucial situations, poor tackling, defeating yourself with mental mistakes...been seeing it all year...your blinded by your love of miles...

your right def is getting better because we have a coordinator that is a up-in-your face kind of guy that is smart, I wish he would blitz more and bring pressure but he is smart...

ok, you just named one year where meyer couldn't sustain that success. also, saban's only had two really strong years so far. but even at lsu he wasn't able to do so over 5 years. so, you still haven't achieved the objective

quote:

paid the same as Meyer and Saban, still gets beat...Roughly same talent...
again, miles has never lost to the likes of ulm. meyer wasn't that great a couple of years at florida and next year looks like they'll take a step back at least a little. c'mon, it isn't as difficult as you're making it out to be

quote:

Jefferson's passer rating is artificially high, when he does throw he throws short throws
artificially. hilarious. what difference does it make? he's an efficient passer. and in case you haven't noticed, he's been throwing down field more in the last 3 games.

quote:

why does every commentator in the United States say QB is our weakness
you actually listen to commentators? at any rate, they're wrong.

quote:

the next closest QB with the amount of sacks he has has twice the number of throws..
you're making my point for me. when jefferson is given the time to throw, he's very good.

quote:

which game were you watching?
the one where lsu was having success against the greatest d coach of all time. what game were you watching? again, lsu was winning in the 4th quarter.

quote:

actually he already passed him last year, he has two titles, spurrier had one
you're missing the point. SUSTAIN.

you conveniently didn't answer the question. you know, miles had a first year at lsu just like saban had a first year at bama. also, miles has played some good teams in bowl games. how did those games turn out?

why are you making excuses for saban's failures but inventing problems with miles?

i have no love for miles. but i am a realist. i see the big picture and that since miles came to lsu, the tigers are in the elite of the elite in college football. the team is improving, including the offense. that was quite possibly the best defense in america and for 3 quarters, lsu was pushing them around. had peterson gotten the call, lsu would have had a chance to beat the almighty satan in his own house for a chance at all the marbles.

Ok, last time, because I dont know ebonics and obviously thats your vernacular.

quote:

saban's only had two really strong years so far

I know, that last two, Two years starts a trend...
quote:

miles has never lost to the likes of ulm

I could give two shits about fricking ULM, his first fricking season...look at what he's done since then, Ray Charles can see it..
quote:

meyer wasn't that great a couple of years at florida

was it the one between his two national titles?
quote:

what difference does it make? he's an efficient passer. and in case you haven't noticed, he's been throwing down field more in the last 3 games.
and not completeing them. the difference is it keeps the D-backfield up close where we cant run the damn ball because they know we cant throw it mid to long range passes.
quote:

you actually listen to commentators?

I listen to the ones that make sense...all of them made sense when they said our QB was a weakness,
quote:

when jefferson is given the time to throw, he's very good

you cant take 8 seconds to throw, not even in Middle school, the o-line gives him 4-5 sec to throw the ball, he doesnt...
quote:

lsu was winning in the 4th quarter

with the way ingram was running the ball it was only a matter of time...
quote:

you're missing the point

no, i believe you missed it...overruled..

Buddy life's too short. If you love Saban so much, just pull for the Tide. We'll make it fine without you. Really.

excuse me for wanting the best and not settling...I have a deep love for LSU just like many others, when they lose it sucks, when they win life is good. just like everyone else. I dont want to go back to losing or settling for mediocre years...or taking a back seat to Bama or FL...and thats what it LOOKS like is happening...time will tell, and I never said at anytime on here that miles should be fired...I think he is a great man and good coach...but I dont think he'll get us there again...i hope im wrong..
