That’s from first hand experience. There’s definitely a trend and all waiters know about it.
You need to look hard in the mirror

Restaurants I worked at had you waiting 3-4 tables at any given time for your section. You're telling me you want the restaurant to pay them 40 per hour...
This is what I meant by you not understanding what you're saying. You will indirectly be tipping them anyways because you'll be paying a premium on the menu items now. Except now, they can provide you with poor service and it doesn't matter.

Yep

He was being generous. He left something. We aren’t obligated to tip. These folks need to be pay a real wage. Not depending on a handout from me. That’s how it works in the civilized world. There’s many, many bars and restaurants in Nola area that can afford to pay servers at least twenty bucks an hour, but they don’t have to because we have been brainwashed. NOLA area has an extremely profitable restaurant and bar industry. But like all businesses in this country, large and small, their allowed to screw over if workers by any means necessary.

worked part time at Ruth Chris while I was in school in BR....gave great service ALL the time because you'd get your azz fired otherwise. Most minorities did not tip well.....thats not racist....just a fact. I never really got my jimmies rustled though because there were plenty of big spenders who would get tanked and over-tip anyway.

C'mon, give the brother a break!
After Federal and LA state taxes he only netted about $884K.
A young baller has to conserve his money where he can and tipping just isn't on his agenda evidently!

Black culture doesn't tip well. Whether you like that or not, doesn't matter. It's a VERY well known FACT by everyone who works in the service industry.
They aren't the only people that tip poorly, but their culture does it most frequently.

Should be paid was based on honest realization that restaurants are not changing their policy
$10 per table per hour is the tipping policy that I recommend
I pay based on your time, not on the price of the meal delivered to my table.

I worked at restaurants my entire life. I never once felt screwed over. In fact I loved it because my pay depended on my performance directly with my customer.
I would have absolutely not waited tables for a set wage. It's not even close to worth it.

Service industry depends on tips to survive. If you know going into a choice of restaurants that your definitely not going to tip go eat fast food where you're not being waited on. Happy I'm not your fricking waiter.
they shouldn't call people out like that. They will learn their lesson

It's an ignorant recommendation. The food prices will skyrocket and now the level of service is no longer incentivized.

If you are working 4 tables at a time that all stay for one hour, are you going to tell me that making $40 for that one hour is not acceptable?
Doing a good job should be your incentive.

His life is certainly ruined after being fired from waiting tables at Taste of Tokyo

Some people never realize that they get shitty service because they are a shitty person. A good server can tell right from the jump.
