I have a bad feeling about this hire.

It seems like the path of least resistance instead of the bold, intelligent shakeup that we need.

Miles was overconfident after winning the NC last year and this led him to making the easy, don't rock the boat choice for co-dc's last year.

Chavis can't be the best guy available...we need the best guy available.

Good way of putting it.

I don't know enough about him to contest this. If he plays soft, bend-don't-break defense though, he can GTFO.

Chavis with the right assistants would be solid.

Can you summarize Chavis's style? I don't know much about him.

I am not a fan of this either, but could swallow it easier depending on who we get to fill out the rest of the defensive staff.

X and O's are important, but if no one is teaching these guys to play the basic fundementals of their position, it won't matter.

And for God sakes, they better learn to tackle next year.

What if the best guy available doesn't want the job? And the second best?

Chavis may not be the best defensive coordinator in the nation, but he is a clear upgrade over the current coordinators. He has a decade of experience as a coordinator in the SEC. He has produced defenses ranked in the Top 10 nationally, including the defense he led this season.

IN short, his dingleberries likely know more than Mallory and Peveto.

Perhaps it wouldn't be perfect, but it would certainly be BETTER.

My girlfriend noticed that too. She said "Our guy is riding the Arkansas guy" "He mounted him!"

So our HC is not good without great coordinators and Chavis is not good without good position coaches...how far down the line are we going to pass the buck?

I know what you are saying and yes everyone needs quality people under them but we need a leader who can set the example not just another coach who overly relies on those under him to make him look good.

Why don't you post the 4 years before that too. Pretty sure he was top 15 the 4 years before. Phat Phil screwed him over in recruiting. All Phat Phil wanted to do was recruit donut shops to knoxville.
