Doesn’t it seem odd that O is staying til the end of the year?

I mean what’s the point? And I can’t think of another recent coach who has been fired and stays on. Maybe some announce their retirement and stay on but not being fired. Why not just name an interim and make the clean break.

I'm waiting for some O incident and they decide to just move on from him before the season is out

There's no interim they felt comfortable with on this staff, i think that's clear now.

It does seem odd - there's a reason for it, it may be a reason we can guess or something we don't know about.

Because there is nothing to gain by doing that?
Let Coach O finish, he deserves that after 2019. We aren’t playing for a SEC title and it shows we let the hometown dude finish it out.

Maybe they want to avoid another situation like when O got hired. Some interim does well and 25% of the fan base is screaming to hire him.

If a lot of players start entering the portal and decommitting, then Woodward will have to pull the trigger. Not sure it would help at that point.
