The biggest factor in how well the D holds up regardless of depth will be how long the O can keep them off the field.

bingo. and last year the offense wasn't that great at keeping the ball. not to mention the defense didn't do much to get off the field either.

at least in the big games.

LSU hasn't had an impact every down true freshman lineman since Booger 20 years ago.

This is simply not true.

This reminds me of something that was amusing to me last year. I can't remember if it was A&M or ULaLa but someone posted the bad news is that they were returning the majority of their offense. The good news was also that they were returning the majority of their offense.

Hell you can just go back to the last two years. Godchaux was a stud as a true freshman in 2014 and Arden Key was all over Dak in the first game last year.

In 2010, before he got hurt, Sam Montgomery was a key contributor to the Dline as a freshman as well.

Im not sure how you can pound your chest thinking Booger is the only legit DL as a freshman in the last 20 yrs.

Arden Key was not an everydown player last year. Davon wasn't an everydown player as a freshman either. He also didn't start every game. Great player. Great contributor as a freshman. Fact is 1.5 TFLs no sacks as a freshman.

His redshirt freshman year. True is the key.

That's just silliness. Look at the numbers. The guys you are listing aren't even close and one wasn't even a true freshman. The fact is, not many true freshman are ready to contribute at that level. No one said "nonlegit" or whatever ridiculous term that is. I said impact every down player as a true freshman.

They were talking about "every down players," not necessarily just difference makers. But I stand by what I said before about that just indicating the coaches rewarding less talented, more experienced players with "every down" playing time over more talented, less experienced players.

I don't know how you can say Davon Godchaux was not an impact player in 2014. He kept us from being eaten alive through the meat of the SEC schedule.
Not to mention he absolutely was an every down player by SEC play.

He didn't really rush the passer that year or disrupt in the backfield and we were 69th in the country in yards per rushing attempt 47th in rushing yards per game (surrounded by Rice and Western Michigan). It speaks for itself. He was a solid player as a freshman, I don't disagree.

We were on track to be embarrassed in the conference before he and KB were named starters.

Any Defensive loses will not as significant as the degree of improvement by Brandon Harris in the short-medium range passing game.

That's the whole season right there as far as I'm concerned.

Don't care if we have a bunch of 48-45 type wins, just as long as we can effectively throw the ball enough to open things up a little.

Nothing else matters............

The reason these injuries hirt so so much is not because of talent gap between 1st team and 2 team players.
It hurts because now those 3rd string guys have to become your backups and there are usually big gaps between 1st string and 3rd string.

Hate to be this guy, but do you remember what happened to CL in November?

Yeap he was the only one getting a push on bama. And without depth, those guys played a lot of snaps. Bama on the other hand had multiple guys subbing in and out on the line the whole game.

Acting like this is anything but a bad thing is naive and keeps showing the rantards actually don't pay attention.

Godchaux, Neal, Herron, Gilmore, Clark, Lawrence, Logan, Alexander, and Sasquatch. 9 To play 3 positions on the DL. We can succeed without CL. + Coach O is riding with us. Chill fellas

I get what you guys are saying, we have bodies. yet none of those guys has taken LCs spot the past 3 going on the 4th season now. But I'm supposed to believe guys like herron and Gilmore will come good and be that every down type player the coaches can rely on? They haven't been in the past. Losing a sr dline that has played since a true frosh hurts.
