I’m going to say no. I think he would thrive in a Gus Malzahn type system. If we installed something like that this week, Tennessee would be fricked.

The play calling is the biggest weakness of the whole team

So I guess we need to go to the triple option and get our teeth kicked in by better teams and recruiting. It's not play calling and all you morons saying it is, are dumb asses. Stop blaming the coaches or making excuses for poor quarterback play.

No, the play calling and sets are completely upside down. When we get into trouble we tend to call things JD does better but for large portions to start games it’s at odds with his skill set.

yes, they addressed it at halftime.

Jayden Daniels got to pick the plays out of the play book he likes and those are the only plays they run.

the issue is, even with the plays he likes, he does a poor job of making reads or going through his progressions. he just isnt a good QB.

he is a lot like winston in that he has talent to be a QB but not the brain to be a QB

That’s a coaching problem in itself. Allowing a guy who hasn’t earned the right to pick his plays is a problem. It’s their job to know what he can and can’t do then design the game plan and adjustments accordingly. No wonder it looks like the turkey bowl offense.

No such plays/game plan exists that can compensate sufficiently for JD's lack of talent. If someone disagrees, please notify the coaching staff of your plan...

He might "thrive" as you say in a triple option or single wing, but that's about it. Maybe LSU should consider these possibilities.

agreed but i think it was all they could do when they realized they had no QB to start the season and are now just trying anything to make daniels serviceable enough to get through and maybe sneak/steal one more win then losses, so they dont have a losing season this year.

we might get a toilet bowl invite by years end but its gonna be an ugly journey

I just keep thinking about what malzahn did in 2013. I think Daniels is an equal runner to that qb and a better passer.

Idk it sure seems like there’s a lot of receivers running open and JD isn’t finding them or he’s waiting too long to throw it and then sailing it out of bounds. Seems like the QB is the main issue but wtf are we going to do about it?

Auburn stuffed the middle pretty well in the first half. I thought we should’ve rolled out Daniels more.

What you have is a very good athlete that we are trying to train up to elite QB. As is, he is a mediocre QB and if he did not run as well as he does he would be abysmal.

The upside however, if he can learn to pass it down field against pro type defenses with good talent then he could be elite.

I have watched several film study videos and none have called out Denbrock's play calling. Instead they have shown that Daniels is not pulling the right triggers. Some plays he makes up for it with a good bail out run or a safe dump off. But he needs to execute the plays called better if we want to make a serious run.

At some point you almost say he is not going to get it and start working on your next proteges.

To answer your question more directly, I believe they work on something all week long and put in the game plan. Eventually, Kelly/Denbrock bail out and go back to something he can run better.

no.
I feel like every time I looked at the TV we were in 3rd and 6 or 3rd and 8.

Daniel’s doesn’t belong in those obvious passing downs.

My point is that you set up an offense to suit the the strengths of Daniels if you think that gives you a better chance to win than playing Nussmeier in the Denbrock/Kelly traditional offense. Because Daniels in the Denbrock/Kelly offense is a square peg in a round hole.

The playcalling and overall scheme is just bad.

Why are we emphasizing getting the ball to a true freshman TE or running 12 personnel?

Using Daniels and passer in the same sentence makes no sense...
