I've compared the two teams pre-season depth rosters and I see some interesting things. Thought everyone might enjoy this.
Average weight
LSU O-Line 299lbs (6 players) ASU D-Line 241lbs (5 players)
LSU +58lb difference
ASU O-Line 245.5lbs (6 players) LSU D-Line 282lbs (4 players)
LSU +34.5lb difference
As for LB's, CB's and S's
LSU 209lbs ASU 199lbs
LSU + 10lb difference
Team Average for prospective starters
LSU 263.33 +25lb difference
ASU 238.33
Take this information for what you will. Just another tool to compare the two teams.

Come on man... our own fans post enough pointless, vague garbage on the board as it is... don't add to it.

in football... answer that yourself.

Yes... last time they played (I was there) in 2005 App played a really good game, but you have to believe that with the tigers pulling away in the 4th that size AND fresher players won out.

o. hey can u gimme a link to the preseason depth roster?
Posted on 7/30/08 at 10:03 am to DollaChoppa
there were many variables that contributed to LSU's lackluster performance in 2005......that will NOT be the case come next month.

Appystate poster, go away! Rantards are excited as hell for this season, to play UGA, Florida, Bama, and Auburn. Seriously nobody wants to talk to you. Are we going to be ready for you, you bet!! But please don't flatter yourself and start clogging the message boards trying to prove you are going to surprise us

Click on this link for the prospectus and then click on HERE to download it.
The only change I know of is that Gary Tharington won't play and I predict that Quavian Lewis will take his spot.

Hey ranter! I'm not seeking a conversation per se. I merely posted this info for those who may not be aware of our potential line-up and how it matches up with your team.
Get off your high horse and take a chill pill. Save the energy for the game man. you'll have plenty of time to scream on Aug. 30th.

Size is great, but we have speed too. Ask Notre Dame, Ohio State, Miami, Fresno State, Va. Tech......

You no they say there are no stupid questions just stupid people that ask questions.
This is a stupid question asked by a stupid person

Ignore the dumb asses who post shite like that. The vast majority of App fans who have posted here have been pretty classy.
I don't know if they realize this but people who post crap like this really come off as being scared of app st. There is no point in talking shite to someone unless you feel intimidated by them. Just sayin.

I'd say so, you just hung on in the big house as Hart ran on you. We have size, speed, and depth. Add in that it'll be in the 90's with high humidity. Good luck in the second half.

I don't have enough numbers on both team's speed to draw a comparison. I know that LSU is fast as well as big. Either way it should be a great day. If for not at least that it's the opening day of football.

lay off the mountaineer. he's just posting some stats. Jesus tap-dancing Christ! What's wrong with you gus? you're living up to our already hated-fan status.

Amen to that. It's been a loooong summer.
You comming down for the game appaholic?

Now that you've posted some stats, I'll reply...
I really think App State is outclassed in every sense of the word when it comes to physicality. They'll have to take a lot of risks on offense early in the game and hope they can get a little lucky with trickery and maybe the ball will bounce their way with some early turnovers or mental mistakes by some of LSU's younger players. I wouldn't at all be surprised to see a close score at halftime (like Tulane last year). I just think App State will wear down in the second half when LSU's backs hit their stride (as is normal for a runningback-by-committee). Also the ridiculous amount of talent and depth on the D-line will start giving Edwards fits in the 2nd half.
