Does Orgeron start off with more detractors than Les in 2005?

Everyone likes to say that they never liked Les from the day he was hired. Looks like O is topping that.

Hard to tell. This is the Rant, which is not representative of the fan base as a whole. Fortunately.

ETA: O is helped by the fact that he's a Louisiana guy, so some will like him for that fact alone. Les had no natural constituency.

I wasn't sure about Les until he beat Tennessee in 2006.

That game sold me on Les.

Just look around at he is being received right now, imagine it after an 8-5, 7-6, or worse season. Theres your answer.

I have a better feeling about O than I did about Les.

I hated Les from minute one

I don't know what stage of grief I'm in but here's my opinion

We shouldn't hate or be mad at O. It's not his fault and I don't blame him for busting arse, putting thought into it, and taking a blue collar approach to this job. Not bitching about money and figuring he'll earn his keep or be gone. Never hate a man for bettering his situation.

Feel free to hate Alleva and the BoS. What was their pitch to Herman? "Hey um Tom. Wanna come Coach? Maybe? Okay, um, just let us know." frick Texas. Make the deal. Show interest. If O is your fallback, there ain't nobody beating down the door to get him. Make your pitch, let Texas make theirs, then call him back and try to sway. And if this morning he calls and says I'm going to UT, then we do exactly what happened. Nothing changes. Don't give me some bullshite about a guy calling and saying he wants to hear another offer and you saying "Nope we got our guy."

You're a shitty negotiator, Joe. You had 8 weeks to get this together.

The PR bloodbath LSU athletics has taken in the last 12 months is disgraceful. What makes you think anything is going to change so long as these clowns are running the show?

I don't blame Ed O. Win games and the fanbase will love you.

This wasn't my 1st choice but Fuk it! I'm happy for Coach O and I'm gonna ride with him into next season...gotta make a solid OC hire....no grace period though, anything less than 10-2 (6-2) is a fail.

I like Orgeron, just don't want him as our coach.

I never liked LM once I realized he was a serial liar

I'm sorry you didn't get what (who) you wanted.

Find a nice secure safe place and it will be ok.

Well ... I don't either. I just know that I am fricking pissed.

Ever since 1/9/12 ... had a fricking buffoon as the HC.

Then ... his last game is supposed to be LAST YEAR after that fricking squeaker vs. TAMU.

Then ... getting fricking double-crossed and Miles gets retained.

Then ... FINALLY ... Miles is fired. About damn time.

And ... as the story went ... LSU would pursue an ELITE HEAD COACH ... or a HEAD COACH with a proven track record and the potential to be ELITE.

AND NOW THIS frickING shite.

So, I guess I have not reached grief yet.

Double-crossed by incompetent imbeciles TWICE now ... frick THEM.

Yeah, good luck O ... not your damn fault, you are who you are ... mediocre at best....and, well, we've seen your worst already....hopefully.

on this board, yes. but the entire Tiger Nation isn't as close minded and immature as the folks on here, in total. most are willing to wait and see how things go; you know, the mature and sensible approach.

What part of my post is not 100% accurate? Have you not been paying attention for the last 12 months?

Ed Orgeron did nothing wrong during this process. There is a lot to be upset about, but Coach O ain't on that list. I'm hoping he gets the OC he wants and has a great recruiting class that kickstarts a very successful tenure. Anyone hoping for less is just an a-hole.

They don't get it, man.

They are willing to ignore what is the likely outcome of this idiotic hire ... in the grand hopes that "let's see" produces a damn miracle.

Navy, support the team. If O blows it, Joe and co are gone and we start over. I think Joe should be gone sooner rather than later.

But I'm not cheering against LSU.

Of course, man ... we all pull for LSU. Ain't nothing gonna change that.

I hope that I am 100% wrong about O. But ... I know that I am not.

Look ... it's not his fault that he is not an elite HC and never will be ... it's the fools who fricking blew this coaching search and hire.
