Does LSUs band have higher standards/criteria than other schools??

not trying to be a homer here...its pretty well known that LSU has the best band in the SEC. Just trying to figure out how.

Id say yes. We have to go through cuts which rarely any schools do that i know of..correct me if im wrong any other fellow GBFTL people

Are we talking about standards for band or football?
Band - Yes. They are held to a higher standard than the FB Team. They are class act kids.
Football - Hell no. Have you ever heard a honey badger interview? It's hard to believe he is going to college.
He uses more verbal crutches than anyone I have ever heard.
Here a basic interview:
Reporter: "How are you?"
HB: "you know, like I feel, you know , like ok , you know , like I um , you know , um I am a lil , like I'm you know kinda , you know ....... "
I counted his you knows on the Paul Finnebaum show for the 2 minute interview and he said you know over 60 times.
Good thing he can play ball.

The Tiger band is the best for a couple of reasons. Fisrt they are choosey about their members. Second, the band plays songs that the crowd actually enjoys. I think other bands get so wrapped up in being a "marching band" or a "corps style band" that they forget that their primary job is to entertain the fans and get them pumped up.
LSU plays Neck, which whether you like it or not, gets a large section of the stadium excited. Or pregame show is the best in the nation. I saw Ohio States pregame one, and fell asleep.
Other bands play the same shite that everyone else plays; Darth Vader theme, that stupid techno song, night on bald mountain..... LSU is, for the most part, original. Plus is is LSU tradition to love our band.

You must want to be more like Vandy, TM7 actually did pretty good in high school. Have you heard those challenged kids who play for BAMA TR3 says "for real" every other word. Most football players graduate in 4 years, or dont go pro in something other than sports in 3.

I sat on the 50 yard line across from both bands at the bama game, and I swear our travelling band sounded much better than that shitty million dollar band from gump land.

They also recruit nationally. I was recruited to TB from Central Florida. I knew people from all over who came to LSU to be in TB and major in music. I'm sure they still do this.

LSU band is better, but the Stanford band can be quite humorous.

Have you seen EVERY other band in the conference?
I would like to see a Southeastern Conference Marching Band Festival at the end of the season and have all 12 schools compete on the field in a scoring competition with DCI judges. Friday night before the SEC Championship game in the Georgia Dome would be an ideal time. Make it happen SEC office.
