You're very wrong. JJ will be a PR nightmare unless he is proved innocent. If charges are simply dropped, or anything else than JJ being proven innocent will result in him never stepping foot in a purple and gold uniform again.
This is not the NFL -- and the crime was considered a violent crime -- which is far different than any other misdemeanor even (if it gets reduced). That would be too big of a hit to the school's prestige -- especially with the media harping and spinning everything right now the headlines would be "Les Miles lets criminal back on team."

He is no longer needed....feel sorry for him, but he made his own bed.
Let's play with the players we have and move on from the ones we don't.

Not with a Felony charge hanging over his head......

But it's just a bar fight!

Charges dropped, nolo accepted, misdemeanor plea, acquitted - YES, Jefferson will play again.
Les will let him redshirt if Jefferson wants to go that route.

I don't see how he wouldn't be reinstated if charges reduced to misdemeanor. plenty of players have played at lsu and elsewhere with a misdemeanor charge. hell, wing was just arrested (per reports) in june. he would have been charged with something but I thought he punted on sat.

Go out... get in a bar fight.... collect a Felony charge, out that on your record for life and then try to explain to future employers (A career job that pays and not McDonalds)that it was just a bar fight. Then you'll see how big of a deal it really is.

You're not a criminal until you're proven guilty. He'll never start another game at LSU though. He may see some token snaps.. and I think I'd like that. Let him take a knee to end a game one time.

I have news for you people Jarret Lee is not going to lead us to victory aganist a SEC defense. He only a stop gap mesure. JJ is better. But he is a stop gap mesure too We haven't had a quality QB since Flynn. Mettenberger better get ready soon are losses to Alabama and other sec schools are going to come. Defense can't play Offense..

Thanks for warning me. I'll be sure to get this vital info to Coach Miles.

My take on it - not really based on any info, just my thoughts:
- If Miles asked him point blank right when it happened if he was there when the fight went down and he outright lied to Miles (I am NOT saying this happned) then I don't think he'll ever play again.
- if he didn't lie to Miles and he pleas down to a misdemeanor or charges are dropped or is acquitted I think he gets reinstated. If it happens by the end of the year then maybe he plays this year. If the charges are not dealt with by the end of the year but before next year he probably gets a red shirt. (I think Miles is the kind of guy that would not like to go into next year with just Mett with any expereince (and I don't know how much he'll get this year). One injury and next year is 2008 again.
