Ha. Do what you gotta do, man. It’s a conversation about baseball.
You can’t have a conversation with a moron. As I mentioned, you’re comparing two completely different players.
Did Morgan hit a single ball as hard as Jones did this season? That includes the last game of the College World Series. The answer is no just like the answer is no that Jones would’ve made that play. It has nothing to do with Jones or Morgan. It has to do with both of them being different players. They have different skill set.
The Wake Forest first baseman was fantastic with a Great bat. If you want to compare Morgan to someone, compare him to that guy. He made some awesome plays at but we’re not talking about him versus Morgan. Now that would be a great discussion.

No.
But let’s hope next year Jones is crushing hanging breaking pitches 450 feet out of Rosenblatt and we are asking could Morgan do that?

Agreed. He’s slick with the mitt as well.

There's a good chance that Tre Morgan doesn't even make that play if you gave him 1 chance to do it again. And if Travinski is catching Morgan definitely doesn't make it.

I couldn't have come up with a more stupid question, no matter how hard I tried.
Of course, Jones wouldn't have been able to duplicate that play. So what? Does Trey have the number of homers that Jones has hit? And it's just his freshman year.
Be thankful for the talent we have on this team, no matter in which way the contribute, they're all Tigers!

A simple no is fine guys. No need to go all "how dare you ask a dumb question". Jones probably doesn't make the play, morgan doesn't hit with that power.

You could watch every baseball game from little league to MLB for the rest of your life and chances are, you'll rarely, if ever see that play made again. That was one of the top plays in the history of the game. Everything had to go right to get that out on top of having a truly heads up elite 1st baseman but if you're asking if Jones is athletic as Morgan, hell no. No disrespect towards Jones but not many humans are as athletic as Tre Morgan.

Does Jared Jones make the same play on the bunt?
Everyone knows Jones would have fielded the bunt then, using his speed, sprinted towards the plate and tagged the runner out himself without having to risk making a throw.
Scoring on the play would have been "3-U."

That bunt was down and where it should normally be. A normal first baseman even crashing isn’t going to make a play on a bunt like that.
Wasn't Morgan sprinting toward the plate as the bunt was being made?
He definitely believed that was going to be the play.

Yes, but he throws an overhand bullet that hits the runner in the face, knocks him out cold, Milazzo picks up the ball and tags him. Duh.

Milazzo made a great tag, but to say the result would "definitely" be different if it were Travinski is ridiculous. The play was quick, but Morgan had the guy out by about 2 feet. Milazzo handled it and deserves credit. But there is no reason to think Trav couldn't have made the play.

Morgan is probably one of the best fielding first baseman to put on an LSU uniform. It’s not a knock on Jones, just a high bar. Go back and watch Morgan holding the runner on first before charging home plate when Skenes didn’t throw to first.

Tre Morgan as a freshman doesnt make the same play as Tre Morgan did that night

Do you think he goes into fall practice as the starting first baseman?
Quite possibly. I’m not sure what the other options will be, and like I said he’s got a lot of time on his side for improvement. He’s got tremendous potential.
