Does having a plethora of RBs make us more predictable?

I was thinking about this watching the USCe game. Ware seems to start things off (inside or passing game). Ford comes in with the outside running. Hillard is used for his power running.

Not bashing, not ranting.. but could the back we have in tip off defenses on the play we are about to run?

(inb4 we always run anyways)

if you didn't recognize this last season, you shouldn't be coaching in the SEC.

Miles gon Miles.

Having a plethora of RB's with many skills can work in our favor as well. We give them the same look over and over again until they try to cheat on a play. Then we burn them by catching them out of position.

More players to prep for. And predictability can end up biting someone in the arse.

Like so. Think of it as a sort of play action run up the middle. Next drive or two same play & formation. Couple drives later as they cheat up, bust one deep. Same concept. Pitch to ford. Pitch to ford. Misdirection.

Les Miles makes LSU predictable.

Yeah...but - we should be able to use this. Ware in on first down doesn't really tell them anything, except not to expect a really wide run (from him - we can always run wide with an end). Ford getting an unexpected inside carry should be more effective, and play action with Hilliard should be more of a surprise, especially on 2nd and 2 or 3.

The fact that Ford is better inside this year and Hilliard is a little quicker should even out some of these tendencies over time.

actually, as compared to yrs past (think 07), no. Ford tips things off to a certain extent because we do tend to run him outside, but we'll run him inside a bit as well. and all guys can catch, so that's not telling you much.

I have to give Les props for the last 2 games. The game plan and play calling was much improved. The difference was execution--Florida game was poor and USCe game was good.

Les usually takes longer that I want to fix things but he does fix them. We are on another ride--lets see how Saturday turns out.

This is true. Redzone playcalling was excellent. Hilliard could have stretched the ball over the goal line, but he was focusing on not fumbling. The overthrown ball to Landry was a great play call and execution, completely fooled Legree. Slightly better pass and it's most likely a TD. The fade to Jacobs could have also worked. Jacobs is a mismatch for almost everybody, plus he was in great position for the catch.
