The only reason JJ should get a snap is if JL is hurt or is just having a terrible game, not a terrible two or three series, but atleast half a game. JL has done extremely well with full control and building confidence during the game. He hasn't done anything to be pulled for an unknown QB play this year. We have so many guys that could line up under center and run circles around JJ with some ability to pass "Ware, Sheperd, J Randall, etc." He should only come in to replace not to give a different look. JL I thought just tied the record for longest streak of passes without an interception. And his arm is a strength that the defenses have to respect on 3rd and short now "see ODBJ touchdown pass" also Clements touchdown pass. If JL had struggled so far then I would be fine with JJ sharing snaps or giving him the starting shot, but JL has done extremely well.

Yep...and I'm sure Bama is already taking notes. Ideally, LSU has a package of plays that is specifically designed around Jeffferson's abilitites that they won't unveil until November 5th and Bama won't be able to prepare for it.

This...FLA too

I am not saying he should start and all, but what if his return makes up that much better to the point we end up beating Florida and Bama simply because of what JJ was able to provide to the offense?

No need to deal with what if's right now. We got a qb that is delivering big time. JJ can be a mop-up backup. It would be disastrous to mess with this team chemistry right now.

Using the last few games a guy played in is not "selective use of data".

So we discount the horrible 8 games?

..and he didn't play well at all vs Arkansas. He hit one great pass vs Alabama in the 2nd half, and Ole Miss stinks.

How do you know JJ doesn't boost morale, and team chemistry. He is pretty well loved by the team.

I think it does this.

However, I hope Les can balance out his PT and keeping his morale up.

My only worry is JJ thinking he should be playing more, getting pissed and bringing the team down with him.

We are talking improvement, are we not?

Do we need to add Lee's shitty games in discussions about him? Or do we just use his most recent games?

Be consistent.

And JJ played just fine against Arky. He didn't win it, nor did he lose it. Hatcher and the 2nd half run defense lost that game.

The concept that JJ is whiny and/or pouty is the invention of people who want a reason to hate on him.

There is no evidence of it.

Always better to deal with these things after we have already lost.

Lee played well when he was called upon last year.

If you want to go back to 2008 and 2009, that is your choice. Did JJ regress from 2009 to 2010? Absolutely.

He looked worse to start the season.

At the end, he looked far better than 2009

You're moving the goal posts. You said Lee improved throughout the year and JJ regressed throughout the year. And then apparently JJ's play throughout the year is "selective data"?

I would like to see Jefferson get some snaps when he is ready, preferably when LSU is up by 3tds just in case something happens to Lee. I am of the opinion that Lee has earned the right to be the #1 QB through his solid play this season and that he has practiced the last 6 weeks.

The preseason reports were very good for Jefferson and I wouldn't be opposed to see him get an opportunity.to play in a backup/situational role. Flynn and Perilloux helped lead the Tigers to a championship in 07, why can't Lee and Jefferson lead us to the championship this year.

Lee was improved going into 2010. Did he struggle when he took his first snaps in 2010? No. He came in and performed.

4 TD passes in 12 games is bad for a triple-option team, let alone the skill players we have at LSU.

He played well in the 2nd half vs Alabama, crappy vs ULM, good against a shitty Ole Miss team and he did OK vs Arkansas.

..and like I said, LSU is one of the best bowl teams on the planet.

He had bad games, but this wasn't really one of them.
JJ had a better CR at nearly 60%, over 200yds of total O and no ints compared to Mallet's 2 ints.
Mallet just had the gifts from our DBs.

Someone said that Lee progressed last season, even with Crowton here, and that JJ regressed. So I tookt the last 5 games of the season (you know the last 38% of the season) to show that JJ did in fact progress during the season. In fact the last 5 games of the season JJ has a better QB rating than Lee does in the first four of this season.

That doesn't mean I don't like Lee, because I do and I want him to continue starting. I just don't see why people have such an irrational hatred of JJ. Was he a great qb last season? No, he wasn't but he did show progress as the season progressed (playing his best game of the season when Crowton wasn't calling plays in the bowl game) and I am curious as to how he will have progressed under a real QB coach. You know, the QB coach who has Lee playing the best he ever has.

ETA: JJ's qb rating the last 5 games = 153.28. Lee's the first 4 145.1

Lights out all year, huh?

That is not what you said. You were talking about improvement throughout the year.

Was thinking we might have needed him for the kicking game, but we've appeared to have fixed that.

Just kidding... seriously...

I don't want to mess with the formula at this point, but JJ does bring a little something different to the field. I'm glad he's back and I wish he would have had a chance to showcase his stuff from the beginning. Now - he needs to hold the clipboard.
