Is this permanent? Did he get moved from the 3 day starting rotation? It’s surprising

Why don’t you just read the thread about the lineup that was posted today?

Gradually needs more work. Nothing to be alarmed about. Might pitch some relief on Friday then will start a few innings Wed.

If that’s the case, why did Maneiri announce that Walker would start Sunday and then change the day before the weekend series? No....something is up.

This is the first time I’ve gotten on the site today. I did not see any another post regarding this topic. Luckily for you you’ve got a lot of free time in life where you can read the rant all day. Why am I even explaining myself

Bringing back slowly. He’ll be fine. With stud FR arms, CPam and Dunn can afford to ease him in

From what I have heard we are playing 5 games in 6 days, need to get bullpen some help which is why Walker is coming in after Hess tomorrow night. He will then start Wednesday on a pitch count

Northwestern is better than any team we’ll play this weekend so he wants him for that game. CPM doesn’t want to lose anymore midweek games to in state schools because of tRant

Cool response, but some don't mind giving that info for others who may have missed it..

Had I read the article I would happily answer the OP's question.

Perhaps link the article if needed. Glad someone else was kind enough to answer the question.

I was concerned for Walker when I saw the change, but now I'm a little happy because I will get to see him pitch in Natchitoches.

According to what I heard on the radio yesterday. Hess and Walker are both on low pitch counts and they are expecting only 3 to 4 innings from both. If Hess started tonight and Walker started Sunday that would put a lot of pressure on Marceaux to pitch deep in the game as you would need your bullpen for Friday and Saturday. Instead he is going to try and get through 7 tonight with Hess and Walker.

There are a lot of opinions in here, but as I understand it, Mainieri's actual reasoning is that because Hess and Walker are both on extra limited pitch counts to begin the year, he didn't want to run the risk of having two long bullpen games in the same weekend. So he's going to let Walker relieve Hess today, and then start on Wednesday.

Once Walker is stretched out, assuming he's pitching well enough, he will be reinserted in the weekend rotation.

Indeed... I didn't see your post before I just posted basically the same thing. This was what I heard, as well.

Idk if Hill comes out strong he may keep Hill there and have Walker as his midweek starter or middle relief during sec weekends and an emergency starter in the post season.

Maineri said he didn’t want two pitchers starting over the weekend that the bull pen would be needed for the majority of the game.

Maineri also wants walker fast ball to up tick another 5 mph like presurgery.

That's why I said if he's pitching well enough. If he pitches like the Eric Walker at the end of his freshman season just before he got hurt, it's hard to imagine Hill out-pitching him just yet. I think Hill will get there, but I expect some inconsistency with command early with him.

If they both pitch well, then that'd be a great problem to have, and I have no idea what Mainieri would choose to do.
