Does anyone else find the rant toxic, but not toxic enough to leave?

I’ve been reading this board since 2007 when I was just a young lad. Of course it took me a few years to make an account, one which I eventually lost the password to and created this one.
when I was younger I would read this board 24/7. It seemed to me that although there were tons of “college football fans” in real life, the amount of people who actually knew most of their respected teams depth chart, or had very much knowledge about the sport itself were few and far between, so when I was itching to read or talk football with more knowledgeable fans, this was the place to go.
Now I don’t know how much this site has changed since that time, or if my perception of this site has just changed as I grew older, but it seems to me now that message boards like this actually take the fun out enjoying the sport itself. Instead of appreciating the season on a game to game basis, everything is always about the future.
“If our offense only scored this many points against (insert team) then imagine how horrible it will do against (insert better team”
And although I usually agree with a lot of posts like this, it just seems like it is taking the fun out of college football for me. I used to think that college football was just this bizarre unexplainable game, where anything could happen on any given day. But now any play that doesn’t go our way is (insert coach)’s fault, and no matter what happens, big changes are always needed RIGHT NOW or we will face HORRIBLE consequences. And you know what? These people are probably right, to some extent. But I feel like a lot of people on this board are unhappy with their lives and they use this site as some sort of outlet to vent that unhappiness, and after reading the rant for 20 minutes, I feel unhappy myself.
Yet I keep coming back, day after day, because the rare content on here which is informative and rational makes it somehow worth it.
TLDR: I think a lot of you need help. It’s just a fricking game.

There are some decent posters and discussions on here. But some of the guys who post on here are more histrionic than their wives are on their worst days. So there's that to deal with

It's astounding how many of these posts are created by people that made their account after Coach O was hired. It may be a coincidence in this case and I honestly don't think that you're one of the minions. But, I feel like you're gonna get lumped in with them.
To address the point of your post, I find that responding to the threads in real time is much better than reading through the threads. Also, it takes some practice i suppose (I don't know what else to call it), but try to stick to topics you're interested in.

I can't imagine not living in BR and not being able to get all of the local input on all of LSU sports. I'm just curious, other than TD, what's your go to for LSU info?

This place has gone to shite since 2012.
No fan base in America is as divided on a coach as LSU fans.
Tiger fans won’t be united until we get a coach that can win multiple NCs.
Hell even Saban lost his last game at LSU to friggin IOWA......

I think fanbases of every school are irrational. People's passion and emotions make them irrational. Then, add to that that Miles and Orgeron are both highly polarizing head coaches. It's for different reasons, but both are polarizing.

The chances of info existing but not in here is zero

Have you tried the B/R Team Stream app? They have an LSU stream and it pushes notifications on recruiting as well. It's not the greatest for LSU football, but it's not bad.

I kinda agree. I hated Miles from day one as I was a student, and sat and watched LSU fold on that Monday night of his first season in what I still say was the hottest night I’ve ever experienced.........:
But the guy earned a tad of respect from me 2 years later “even with 2 losses”
Then, well, got stubborn and owned by Saban.

It may come full circle though with history repeating itself if this Ensminger debacle drags on like Cameron, part 2.

I was in the camp that wanted Miles fired that Tuesday morning. I was never, ever a Miles fan. But up until the last few years, his record spoke for itself. I was pissed when he announced he wasn't going to Michigan.

No its fricking not! Participation trophies is not what LSU football is about....

That's my concern, Jack. However I don't want to just assume that it is going to happen. Maybe it's because I'm older now, but I think we just kind of need to wait and see what happens next year before we make any judgements.

I can agree with this mostly. I have been reading this site for about 5 years now, and finally made an account this past summer (I’m only 17) so I’ve been reading since I was really young. It seems like everyday it gets worse. I do love this site for all the info, and I honestly feel just about as connected to the program as anyone as far as knowing things, etc. but a lot of people on this site can’t be please no matter the situation. There would be people who would be pissed if we won a title because it would get O an extension or etc. Peoples expectations are impossible. I think a lot of it is just people overreacting to certain things, it’s human nature and I do it as well. I wouldn’t consider someone a true fan if they didn’t get emotionally invested into it I guess, and I think that’s where a lot of the nonsense might come into play.

I remember going from jubilation to total defeat after this cocktease didn't come to fruition.

Now, Now everybody gets a trophy. Everyone's a Winner

Participation trophies
Hey a-hole, I’m not saying that the results on the field don’t matter. What I’m saying is that bitching about the results nonstop on the internet take the fun out of the results, whether they are good or bad. Your tough guy Louisiana redneck mind is probably too dense to understand that though

I would love to peruse the Rant in an alternate universe where Tom Herman was our coach but we had the exact same record and offensive stats. I think the vibe here would be much different, not nearly so angry.
