I don't miss him because I think we got an upgrade with Crowton, but I don't think Jimbo was a bad OC. He was good at designing an offense and teaching a team (especially the QB) how to run it. With good players, he generally got good results. When the players weren't as good, neither were the results. That's normal. His weakness was probably his ability to adjust his play calling during the games. He could put together a good game plan, and as long as it worked, we would roll. But if it wasn't working, or quit working due to defensive adjustments, it was hard to get it jump started. But that was only a relative weakness, in that he was better in other areas. He still wasn't bad, even as a play caller, his weakest area.

Jimbo did a lot of good things at LSU, and I'll always be glad he was here for those seven seasons. We enjoyed some of our most successful offensive performances in history. I hope he does well at FSU as OC and, in the future, as HC.

But I wouldn't trade Gary Crowton for anybody.

I think his success was attributed to all the talent around him. With less talent, FSU talent, his average play calling and lack of play makers are probably going to get him fired.

I disagree.

He's knows his way around an Offense. How are you defining a premier candidate?

Just a standout offensive coordinator, who can take what he has and get the most out of it, and is unique in exploiting defenses.

Like Morris Watts? No OC in the country could achieved the Rant's ridiculous expectations.
It's the Saban thing...you know that.
