Agree with 95% of what you said. However, calling the best two relievers that UNC has, with a third top bullpen arm at the ready if needed is anything but "patched-together". UNC coach had his ducks in a row and was in a much better position pitching-wise than LSU heading into the final game.

He had just been moved to RF after Larsen was pitch hit for and they inserted Kling at CF. So he wasn’t familiar with the lights, etc from that position.
Also the ball was absolutely scorched and did not have a lot of loft and was tailing. The batter barreled it up for sure.
Not an easy catch at all.
