Have also heard the same.. Also Bo Pelini's name was brought up also.
At least Bo makes sense. Better him than a guy that's never been a head coach.
Anyone that thinks a guy who has never head-coached college football should not be considered.

AHH....anyone know about the supposed team meeting yesterday?...I guess not.
Only the players know. The only person on this board that might be able to add some insight is dmitch.

Muschamp is HC in waiting at Texas.
No way he wants the LSU job.
At least I thought that. Now he may want it just to come in and be the savior.
If LSU offers him the job before Texas does I think he would come back to BR.

No way dmitch says anything on here about the meeting, just my opinio. He might have some things to say about the situation but he's not going to post about what RR told him.

Point taken...well I'll park this question for now.

Why would WM leave a situation where he only has to beat Oklahoma every year for the "honor" of playing Alabama, Auburn, Arkansas, and Florida twice (all teams that have touched the top 10), finishes a top 5 class during his junior day, and heads a program widely regarded as the nation's best. He is in the position he has worked hard to be in. Why take another job and be shown as a fraud. . .that only works for sons of famous coaches.
For all of you guys that seem to think this is so appealing you had better hope that neither Boise State nor TCU sniff the national championship. Can you imagine the labor structure that would be created if a coach could go to any MAC or WAC school for a couple of years, "dominate", then get their pick of the bug name schools from top heavy conferences (Texas, Nebraska, USC, Oregon, Stanford, Michigan, Ohio State, Miami). . .why bother with the SEC gauntlet?

Too funny. Could it possibly be Mrs. Leach?

i agree with this. i want a coach who has won as a previous head coach. I don't want to take a chance on an assistant coach. That is what Vandy and Mississippi State do.
There's the rub when we talk about getting a new coach. The pool of established HC, who have a consistant winning track record, and are willing to leave their current job is pretty damn small.
Whiff on one or 2 of your choices, and suddenly you're like Tennessee and calling up WAC coaches as you're 5th choice.
Doesn't mean you don't make a change, but it means you damn well better have a real good idea of who the new guy is before the old guy is sent to pasture.
