It won't cure everything, but it will definitely be a start in the right direction.

They don't have to be fired. Just sent back to their original position coaching spots. However, you may hire a new DC and he has a position coach that he works very well with. But we need a bonified DC who has skins on the wall and can be effective defensing the spread offense or at least the wildcat formation which we don't seem to have a clue how to stop.

No. They realized that college football is uber competitive and you have to build. They enjoyed their '06 title and looked forward to the day their young talent would benefit from the experience of the 2007 season. They also did not rag on their head coach and try to sully his reputation because they got a little disappointed. They didn't bad mouth their program on public websites for all of the recruits to see
That's horseshite. I was on the Gator boards all during the season last year and they had their share of meltdowns and Gatortard moments.

What if the problem is Les himself
Maybe he is getting more involved with play call on both sides of the ball

You have to fire the coaches. Thats just the way things are done. Noone can be demoted and be effective. Fact of life. Thats whats so hard about this for Les. But it has to be done, and a new DC hired that can turn this defense around next year!

Sounds like you are talking about the defensive equivalent of Gary Crowton. Give Less a chance. I trust him.

There were two big X-factors coming into this season. 1) QB and 2) DC. I had hoped that the DC’s would be as much of an upgrade over Pelini as Crowton was over Jimbo. Obviously that’s not the case. I’m not sure how much the coaching staff could do about #1. Sooner or later the inexperience at QB would show up and in all likelihood cost us a game or two. It has. But let’s hope that is a thing of the past.
Changing DC’s could fix the other half of this year’s struggles. They seem to have four big inadequacies as DC:
1) Unaggressive schemes (too much read-n-react neutralizes any advantage our athleticism has)
2) Failure to put the best players on the field (It is beyond me to look out on the field and see #44 but not #3).
3) Incapable of ‘putting out fires’ (examples are numerous but consider how long it took to solve Troy’s offense)
4) Too predictable (Snead only checked off 3X the entire game – OM knew just what to expect from us).

Dont fire them, just put them back to being position coaches and hire a true DC. If the DC wants to fire them let'em!!!!Problem solved. Miles is not the bad guy!!
