I guess you were cool with Miles until the BCSNC? You probably rode his dick for 13 games and then the goose egg came against Bama and you figured it was a good time to jump off.

This is about as far off as you can get.

You replied to multiple people b/c enough of them found this interesting enought to post one it.

Just b/c you have thousands of posts doesn't make you a posting master. I've been peeing for 34 years and I still miss a little every now and then.

The best SG in the state the past four years has not even been ranked in Rivals Top 40 SGs, nor the top 250, so forgive me if I'm not sold on Malik yet.

I do think he is one of the better LA recruits in the last few years, but don't really expect him to immediately be a Marcus Thornton type scorer like we need.

Malik Morgan is a 4-star and is ranked as the No. 11 Shooting guard in the country (No. 75 overall) and is higher ranked at his position than Ricardo Gathers -- in a position with twice as many players.

Morgan is ranked higher than Marcus Thornton was out of high school (unranked) or junior college (3 star).

Stupid comparison on your part. Do I think he will be as good as Marcus Thornton? No. Do I think ANY player coming out of high school this year will be as good as Marcus Thornton? No.

It's his 4th year and the last 2 have been a serious struggle for him.

It's surprising to you that some people have a wait and see approach for this year?

Considering Thornton didn't come directly out of high school, I wouldn't use him as an example as an immediate contributor from high school.

You're missing my point. I stated that in order to be a really good team next year, we would need a SG that could score. I don't think Malik Morgan is that missing piece. I think he'll be a fine player, and an upgrade over Stringer, but not what we need to make a tournament run.

A player with scoring ability like Marcus Thornton (I used him bc most LSU fans are familiar with his game; I could've used Bradley Beal or BJ Young) would make our team really good next year and ease the tensions between LSU fans and TJ. If we don't finish towards the top of the SEC next year and easily make the tournament then it will be more of the same.

At the beginning of the season, I wanted this team to get about 10 non-conf wins and 7 SEC wins before I personally would still be in support of TJ. He can get that 7th SEC win tonight. Recruiting has been so-so, but I would think that most LSU fan's feel that Hickey, O'Bryant (and to some extent Isaac) have played pretty well. The one issue I have is that the offensive efficiency has not improved much, despite having more skilled offensive players this year. I hope I'm proven wrong, but it doesn't look like LSU will ever be a good offensive team under TJ unless they can find a do-it-all pure scorer ala Marcus Thornton (or going back further, Ronnie Henderson).

I do find the "want" for Bruce Pearl funny. Not because Pearl hasn't proven to be a good coach, but because it illustrates the true hypocracy of most fans. The hypocracy being that winning is the ONLY thing that is important to fans, despite claims that they want/need a coach who runs a clean program and brings in "good" kids. Ultimately the desire for a Bruce Pearl proves that none of that is really important to most fans, however many will stand on thier pedestal and tell you otherwise.

So what did your decision come down to? Boy George, YMCA, or George Michael. All tough decisions.

Fair enough. I don't think anyone is coming in at this point that is going to have a Thornton impact next year.

But I think O'Bryant will only improve, and I think that Stringer and Turner have had some good games recently. Stringer hasn't been shooting well from outside but that's prompted him to be a little more aggressive to the basket, and that is a good thing.

I've said all along that losing Gathers hurts really badly because he would have made a NCAA lock and a team capable of winning the SEC. We don't have that coming in, but I still think we'll be a good team.

Livingston next year to help with recruiting, Mark Few the year after.

My point must have not been clear.

I usually don't buy into the Rivals hype that much, but rankings are a good indication. I'm not saying TJ sucks because he recruited Malik Morgan who is not as good as Marcus Thornton.

That statement was made in talking about next years team: if we had a badass SG, we'd have the opportunity to make a tourney run. I don't think Malik Morgan is ready to be that guy yet.

I haven't been as sold on this but I'm starting to change my tune. Hire him and get Collis III for BR and we could run shite. haha

This is a little unfair considering Morgan is in high school and Thornton is in the NBA. How do you know. Thornton went to Kilgore for two years for a reason and I'm sure you were probably thinking "Wtf is a marcus thornton" when he first came.

but I'm not going to sit here and think that a fire tj thread is appropriate considering the current state of the team this seaso.

Now I see you made no effort to read what I wrote to start the thread. I posted nothing about firing the guy. I asked the simple question of if he doesn't........Do you start looking elsewhere.

I was doing the opposite of comparing Morgan to Thornton. Someone like Thornton, who doesn't exist, is what we need to take this team to the next level.

It was a turrible statement on my part. The whole Thornton/Morgan comparison was not to credit or discredit Johnson's recruiting; simply stating that if we had a really good SG the sky would be our limit.

I agree. However, there is no way Alleva is:

A. Making demands on Trent Johnson during the season.
B. Talking publicly about demands he may place on Trent Johnson.
B. Talking about them to Jordy.
