Sure. That's why I'm asking if that's how they pronounce it or if that's just the yankees up in Bristol

"Ay-chan" is how they pronounce it, just like any good cajun family would.

Yup. I'm from Welsh. My folks live about 5 miles northwest of Jennings.

I know several of TE's family members (and quite a few more on Facebook claiming to be relatives because he's famous now ).

It is pronounced this way.... E-T-AN not Ay-Chan. Another famous Etienne was a part of LSU hisoty….
Most of the landmarks are old like Jean Étienne de Boré’s sugar kettle at LSU by the old sugar mill smoke stack.

^this

I had a similar conversation a few years ago about Leonard Fournette. Some idiot kept on trying to convince me that his name was pronounced 4-nay.
I said if his momma call him 4-net ima call him 4-net

Exactly where we are from. I was born on Landry road (I’m a Landry) kin to the Doucets, and Gary’s.
Sorry about hijacking, graduated in 85 and went off to military. Never moved back but still visit. Don’t hear a lot about the Marais here (ms gulf coast).

I know you IRL, graduated a year after you. And I know that neither of us are gonna let a little thing like the way the family says it stop us from saying Achane. We obviously know better than they do

There's like a 90% chance we're related.

Mom was a Landry. Her mom was a Gary.
