Do 2 TE's on running plays make that big of a difference?

It seems like that only having one WR is a bad formation. We rarely, if ever, throw out of that. So, the safeties creep up to the line and LBs look to attack. With only one WR we are telegraphing our intent.
Why does having 2 TEs on those plays make a difference? The ball is going one direction to the outside or up the middle. Does having 2 TEs cause the defense to respect both sides? Wouldn't another WR be more effective? Plus, if you have a FB, you still have a lead blocker.
I just don't see what we gain from the one WR/2 TE sets, unless we might throw it to a TE on occasion to mix things up.

Yep.
..and when we run PA out of it, it's a one receiver pattern. Cover him and the play is dead.

The colts ran on the eagles all night last night with an unbalanced line to the weak side. I guess what I'm trying to say is, you can run better where less people are.

Assuming neither tight end nor either back runs a route out of the backfield...

Yes it does. It's the difference between a 2ypc avg and 4ypc avg.

Seems like the coaching staff really likes Jeter. I suppose he's a solid blocker, but they haven't thrown a single pass to him yet. But I know they really have barely looked at any TE's, since the two bad experiences in the opener vs. Wisconsin.

We ran it vs ULM.
Everyone was in and no one went out except the WR.

Tight ends were targeted three times in that game.

it just brings more players to the box. I don't understand why we can't run out of the spread

Our O-line getting zero push makes the difference.
But lol at everyone screaming about us needing to "spread it out" like it's a game of a Madden.

By spread out, we mean draw players out of the box.
If we are in a 3 WR formation, it draws an extra guy out of the box and it's 5 vs 6.
7 vs 9 when it's 2 TE and I formation is way to many asses to avoid for any sizable gain. Hill did it last year, but his vision is much better (right now) than anyone in our backfield.

Cam ran a lot of unbalanced line one year with the Ravens. I believe it was 2010.
Cam's playing possum. This offense will look much different in the coming weeks.

Um its more linemen (big boy blocking) either side you decide to run. You can flex out a CB or S outside or inside, depending on what he gives you.

Perhaps one of the resident rant statisticians would like to ypc per formation for us.
Edit: not it!

When we spread Wisconsin out in the 2nd half, we ran all over their asses.
Not so much when we didn't.

How dare you question coach Bo Schembechler!

Unfortunately after 3 games, what you see is what you get. There is NO secret play book.

I watched PA out of it on Saturday.
No one was out in a pattern except the WR. We are running max protect to help AJ right now. Will it change in the future? Who knows?
