Yeah, there must be some serious lens distortion there or Pickett had a growth spurt and Green is 6’10”. Leavitt is listed at 6’2” and Seaton at 6’5”.
Would be cool to have 5 and 9 back in the rotation. Maybe let former Heisman winners pick the player.

Pickett does look huge. But no on the numbers. Those should never be worn again. Those 2 guys accomplished something nearly impossible. Numbers should be retired like 20

I am okay with DJ wearing #5. I could see it being a BK thing that it couldn’t be worn again & now that has changed with the new regime

Heisman is a good standard for retiring a number.

While I would understand fully retiring Nos. 9 and 5 given they were worn by Heisman winners, just like No. 20, I think LSU creates an unnecessary ambiguity by saying they are "retiring" certain numbers without actually retiring them in the usual sense.
Why not just say we are putting (insert player here) into the stadium "Ring of Honor"? That's basically what LSU is doing with Cassanova, Stovall, Alexander, and soon to be Jones given 37, 21, 4, and 7 are numbers that are all still worn by current players. The numbers aren't actually being "retired"

Yes - “ the retirement of an athlete’s jersey in a particular sport does not preclude a current student-athlete in that sport from wearing the jersey number in that or any other sport, subject to the discretion of the head coach. This provision applies only to jerseys retired after January 1, 2007. ”

While I agree with you here I just don’t think they should be worn again. That’s just my opinion though.

Once a jersey is retired, it is up to the coach’s discretion if it will be reissued.
They have reused every # so far (37, 21, 4) but it seems like Burrow’s #9 is already off limits even though his jersey hasn’t been retired yet. I assume Brian Kelly was set on treating Jayden’s #5 the same but I am okay with the Lane Kiffin staff deciding to re-issue #5. Maybe that changes once his jersey actually gets retired

Retiring numbers on a side of the ball.
