DJ was brought here at the recommendation of Brady. He sat next to Brady in the coaches box along with Ensminger. Mangas played and coached alongside LSU Joe Brady at William & Mary. Both went there as walk-on receivers and eventually made it onto the Tribe staff. Promote him from analyst to Asst WR coach. Hopefully Brady doesn't want him to join him with the Panthers.

Not yet, but I doubt he wants to be an analyst again this season.

Panthers staff updates

Not yet. And if he does, it would likely be a similar position to what Brady was with the Saints, which is a low-level and low paid spot. IF (big if) LSU wanted him, he could be retained.

Looks like he’d have to settle for a quality control type spot if he went there

Honestly, "we" just aren't qualified to make these calls. It is not about 'intelligence'. It is about experience, contacts, networks, etc.

"We" can keep calling out names "we" have heard of and saying 'this guy should be hired / kept' or melt because some other dude left.

But, the fact remains that no one on this board is qualified to make this call so it is all silliness. This will end soon. I'll cheer like hell for whoever is on staff and not pretend I have any business giving O advice.

While true, but with Munoz off to Baylor, LSU needs to keep some type of Brady connection to assist Ensminger. DJ was in the booth all season with both of them.

Perhaps. I just don't know if that is true at all.

I am not anti DJ by any means. If the staff decides to retain / promote I will be supportive.

I'd imagine that Mangus has some opportunities going forward.

He was an OC at Wm & Mary for 2 seasons. He may have his name out as an OC candidate again for 2020.

He certainly got a Masters degree in OC studies sitting in the LSU booth in 2019.

Brady did not invent some new type of offense. He was great and LSU did what they did because of him but it’s not like his knowledge is not well known through a lot of coaches that LSU could get to replace him. He was just the one that introduced it to LSU and was very good at that.

The issue is that we don't know these people personally. We don't work with them.

It's easy for us all to go: Hire Munoz! Hire Mangas! Hire this guy. Hire that guy. All based off of our PERCEPTION of them.

We don't know their work ethic, their reliability, their maturity, etc.

People may hate them. They may be horrible to work with. We are just outsiders speculating.

This. Brady was largely just regurgitating what he had learned at previous stops. He was phenomenal at identifying defensive weaknesses, which is probably he specialty, but the plays we ran weren't some cutting edge innovations. It also helped to have Joe Burrow at the helm.

Exactly..even sean payton said the film is there for LSU on the saints to use. Coach E has the no how...brady wasn't sleeping at his office 3-4 nights a week...i would say it would be good to keep DJ though since he does know how brady operated especially on helping the receivers catch.

Of course we should discuss it. That's where the fun is. But many take themselves too seriously.
