The difference between LSU and Bama, O-line and Quarterback play. When you have a quarterback that can play as well as Mcelroy and an O line that knocks the defense off the ball each play the difference in execution would be like night and day for us.

THere is a section of people on this board that do not either
A)know or
B)understand the difference between COACHING and EXECUTION.

OLine being able to control the LOS and a QB being able to make good decisions with the football is much more of a reflection of execution rather than not knowing what to do.

Not knocking JJ at all, but McElroy is a much more intelligent player at this point.

4 or 5 years in to his career at Bama. Granted, he didn't start or play much, but he has been there watching film for a while.

let me rephrase what i said. I want you guys to let me know what the results are with Saban as coach and our o line and d line for bama. Miles as coach with Saban's o line and d line. Is it coaching? Or can you argue that Saban would not be arse effective with our o line and d line? Would Miles look like brilliant with Saban's lines? I honestly want everyone's opinions. Mine is if you give Miles Saban's o and d line, even Miles cannot screw that up. Our win to loss record is unblemished.

I'm not gonna argue with that. There's a lot of Matt Mauck and Ken Dorsey in McElroy.

To put it another way:

McElroy is a little worse than Matt Mauck

It's the coach. It's always the coach. If Shula were still coaching UA, are they undefeated in the last two regular seasons? Are they in the SECCG the last two years. No. It's Saban. He's a great college coach. Les Miles is not half the coach Saban is. Until we find a coach who can compete with Saban, UA probably wins our head-to-head matchup 2 to 1 or 3 to 1.

So if you give Saban JJ and our o line and d line, then he is still undefeated?

stats don't tell the whole story...and fwiw, I'm not trying to say GM is a great QB.

O Line - absolutely not

D Line - probably not

Right. McElroy had the benefit of the best rushing game in the country and still barely out performed JJ.

It's obvious that that is NOT what I was saying. I am definitely saying that Saban is a better coach than Miles. Not that I want Saban back. He's done here and it's likely that he'll be done at UA in the near future. LSU needs to focus on getting a better head football coach than Les Miles. He is not a good coach and certainly not the right man to head an elite college football program, if that's what you want.

bullshite. Mcelroy is a 22 yr old 4th year jr. Anyone saying JJ is as good is fooling themselves or stupid. Take your pick.

You can't know that. If JJ had better coaching he might be better.

Whose fault is this? Miles needs to recruit and coach just like Saban. He is a good man and is trying, but he is just not as good a coach in every phase.

LSU's problems begin and end with the offensive line and our coaches' inability to enact a game plan to cover up that weakness.

Get a clue einstein. You CANNOT cover up sub par offensive line play. It's like trying to hide a freaking rhino in a shoebox. You try to minimize the damage with good defense and pray that the oline makes enough plays to let your offense stay halfway competitive.

Maybe our O-Line needs some coaching, EINSTEIN.
