You mean All-SEC Josh Booty? Not saying he was a world-beater that season but give the guy a little credit.

The difference is that Coach O gives his backup QB time to play in realistic situations (not up by 20+ points) while the game is on the line against opposing defenses who are challenging the starter, so if the basis for comparison is level of commitment to the freshman QB: I, too, admire that O appears to show more confidence in next season's starter than Saban does (while maintaining dedication to Etling).
yep, CEO is a better coach than NS.
He has everyone fooled except for you.

Some posters on here just cant get Saban's you know what out of there mouths. This is the same "QB Developer" that played Josh Booty over Rohan Davey and Marcus Randall over Jamarcus Russell. Managing QB's is probably the man's only weakness as a Coach.
Also, isn't he the same coach that left Matt Mauck in late in the 4th quarter up36-7 Florida? Mauck suffers a season ending injury wile up big late?

mr catfish, you are wrong. if we had bama's fricking defense we could play our freshman qb more also. and, in fact, we played him quite a bit in earlier games.
lsu just doesn't have to D this year to be able to take that chance.
there's a whale of a difference in putting in your #2 qb in against the dumpster fire that's UT with the nation's best D to back him up if he screws up than LSU'S situation.
lastly, Sabans quote was AFTER the game, a game that they smeared UT. if his qb had continued to frick up and put the game in question the bastard would have pulled him in a heartbeat (which he should have)

Saban also know that he has LSU coming up. No reason to risk a freak injury on Hurts in the second half.

If you can't see the difference between the situation Alabama was in on Saturday and the situations LSU was in against Syracuse and Troy, then I have to question your mental acuity.
And if Brennan's confidence is "ruined" by throwing those two picks and then not going back in the game, then he probably doesn't have what it takes to be the starting QB of a P5 school. The Syracuse pick wasn't even his fault and the Troy pick was 3rd and long and he was just trying to make a play. And yes...at that point in the Troy game it was very much a possibility that we could lose. Down 10 at the beginning of the 4th quarter? I was extremely worried at that point.

So if Brennan doesn't get anymore snaps this year, will that be the excuse for how next year plays out? I have a gut feeling that Brennan will have no experience going into next year.

Best thing to do with Brennan is have planned series for him. For example, he plays the third and fourth possessions of the game.
Against Arky, Tennessee, and Aggy, we should be able to win even if he throws two pick sixes. Important thing is it's determined in advance so if he happens to turn it over on the fourth possession, he was coming out anyway and he knows he didn't get the hook.

Tua will not sit the bench after this year. He will beat out Hurts next year for the starting job because he runs just as good and he throws 10 times as good as Hurts. Book it! Hurts, Eason and others will not be on the same teams as they are now in 2019 because of the 2017 QB class..
