Yes, we offered.

Basically we had a big time RB recruit (Cam Akers I think it was) who we assumed we would scare off if we offered Etienne.

We lost Akers and we offered Etienne, it was too late at that point. It happens, it worked out for all sides. I love our RBs, I'll take CEH over Etienne.

Les Miles didn’t want him, plus all of our eggs were in the Cam Akers basket and Etienne knew it.

I get not everyone gets overly involved with the program other than wins and losses, but if you don’t know this by now, are you entitled to say “We?”

As did Clemson. Only difference is Clemson had just won the natty and Etienne wanted on the bandwagon. Poor lil ole LSU wasn’t good enough for his services.

CEO was the coach at the time. The day after signing day CEO fired Jabar Jalukke and Damyeune Craig for this.

Les didn’t want him. Orgeron immediately offered

ETA: he fired Jalukke and Craig because they were both pieces of shite

He committed to A&M in the Summer of 2016. We didn't push hard because he was committed and, I assume, shut it down. (Maybe not) We did in fact, offer before Clemson. He took late trips to both schools for official visits. In late November, neither LSU nor Clemson (Per 247) were in his top 3.

He made the choice he did and it was a good one. I really don't want to hear any "LSU disrespected" business.

Like I said, good for him! He has done well and I wish him well.

Too late according to a lot of people, but even out late push started earlier than Clemson’s.

LSU gave Etienne an offer after realizing Akers was going to FSU. If TE really wanted to be at LSU, then he would be at LSU.

The “we didn’t want him” narrative by the national media is annoying.
Also, the “Les didn’t want him” thing is also played out.

Facts:

1) Cam Akers was the #1 RB in the country, 5 star and ranked #9 overall. He was a cant miss prospect that led us along the path until he signed with Fl St. The staff thought they had him.

2) TE, while being the better back in college and a good recruit in his own right at the time, was a 4 star, ranked as the #13 RB, and #114 overall. He attended LSU’s junior day in Feb of 2016 and also LSU’s camp in July of 2016.

3) TE takes an unofficial visit to Lsu September 17, 2016. Les Miles was fried after the Auburn loss September 24, 2016. Coach O named interim HC.

4) Nov. 26, 2016 Coach O officially named/hired as the HC.

5) Nov. 30, 2016, TE was set to decide between Texas A&M, Tennessee, and Oregon.

6) Cam Akers signs with Fl. St., Lsu offers TE Dec. 27, 2016. Official visit set for Jan. 27, 2017

7) Jan. 12, 2017, TE is offered by Clemson and has an official visit on Jan. 26, 2017.

Should we have recruited him harder and offered him sooner? Yes, and hindsight is 20/20.

I have no ill will for him. Helaire has been everything we needed him to be, and he’s been versatile, don’t think anyone could replace what he’s done. Was absolutely huge in the Alabama game

My main point is, we ended up in good hands. I can’t tell you I’d rather him over CEH
