If they didn’t approve the contract they just cost LSU millions which would pay the buyout for house and the defensive staff.

Absolutely idiotic move

extension was agreed to after the las BOS meeting. Contract would have been on the consent agenda and approved unanimously during the next BOS meeting (2/23/24)

You are missing the point.

ND is currently going to have to pay his old buyout.

Not the contract that was going to make him the highest paid coordinator.

This is solely because they didn’t approve the agreed upon contract

That is a SIGNIFICANT amount of dollars

No argument here that he wants to go back home.

My point is what it costs ND to do so is significantly different. Now instead of playing with NDs money to fire house we are having to budget

LSU lost out on millions because of laziness.

Some things just take more time than a week to do.

The deal was made. All parties knew it would be approved and all parties knew it would take a month or two to become official.

Denbrock decided he wanted to coach at ND more than LSU.

You are only pretending to be complaining about the money. You are really disappointed that you lost Denbrock.

The boards laziness cost LSU millions.

If the terms were agreed upon and everyone knew he was highly sought after get it finalized for situations like this

It’s both.

I’m pissed we lost denbrock AND I’m pissed that because something so simple and agreed upon is costing MILLIONS to LSU because of laziness

It’s a lot easier pill to swallow when you are sitting on a pile of cash to pay for his or houses replacement

Denbrook would have had to sign the contract, too
Not likely to happen while he was negotiating with ND on his buyout.

Jesus. Some of you have no idea about real world contracts and business.

Because Mike Denbrock accepted a position which was a) not a head coach b) not in the SEC or c) further than 500 miles from Baton Rouge, his buyout is only 25% of his remaining base and supplemental pay:

Denbrock Contract

His base is $400,000. His remaining supplemental pay is $1.1 million.

He has to win the Broyles award to get any incentives. And those max out at $150,000 anyway.

So his current buyout to go to Notre Dame should be 25% or $1.5 million, or $375,000.

You’re assuming that the buyout in Denbrock’s new deal would be significantly different from his current one. Theres no reason to assume that - Denbrock is the one with leverage after last season. If anything his buyouts go down not up. Absolute best case for LSU it stays the same.

In order to actually be mad about this for good reason, you’d need to know what Denbrock’s new pay was gonna be, and what the new buyout would have been.

Even IF Denbrock had signed for 3 years $6 million, and IF the buyout was the same, and IF Denbrock went to Notre Dame anyway, 25% of the new deal is $1.5 million. A difference of just over $1.1 million from the current buyout.

So there is no scenario in which the BOS, who admittedly are perfectly capable of screwing up just about anything, would have cost LSU “millions” on this deal.

At most, and only if multiple “IF’s” come to fruition, you’re talking about just barely over $1 million. Which is not nothing, but is about what LSU football spends annually on ankle tape.

Not nearly enough to prevent firing House, or anyone else who needs firing.
