Drift away meaning what??

If we lose 4 games this year then I think Miles' future at LSU will rest on next season. If that in fact is the case, and he is canned after next yewar the the depth chart will still be stock piled with talent. This would make it very appealing to any coach in America (outside of Carrol, Meyer, Brown, Stoops, and MAYBE Saban by this point) to come to LSU.

I have also said this from day one. If you had Saban and Miles on the same doorstep, and both walked i at the same time, The kid would sign with Saban. Think about it now!!! Saban knows how to get kids to get to the next level.

that is the vibe I am getting if this year is a cluster frick like last year and to me we are trending back into that direction. I know for a fact that the natives with money are getting restless. Bama is LOADED next year and to me we will lose at least 2 games next year. bye bye les.

These seems to be true. And if it is then it will eventually hurt recruiting at LSU if Miles stays around long enough for it to happen. For now though, Miles has been neck and neck with Saban as far as recruiting goes.

I'm not in the chicken little crowd, but if we go 8-5 again and have a perception that we misuse talent (i.e. Shep not playing in the second half vs Miss. St.), it would not be a good development on the recruiting front.

Yeah but at this point we're still making money and with all the projects TAF and the AD have going on, could they afford it? I think he would get another year at least.

another year meaning til 2011 season. Miles is not getting fired this year even if we lose every game besides tulane and tech.

I think he gets this year, next, and the next. Minimum unless we just fall apart next year (ie. losing season)

Most coaches would give their left nut to coach here...

Every LSU coaches contract in the future should have a "Loss to In-State School Clause". Very simply if you lose to an in-state school you clear out your desk w/in an hour after the game and get out, no buyout, no severance, in fact you owe us a refund!

So why are the records so different??? I mean LOOK at it!!! LSU is slowly falling apart. THER IS NO WAY THIS TEAM should have only beaten MSU by 4. With the SO-called talent they have. NO EXCUSES!!!

Link? I suspect you are talking out of your arse. What proof do you have of this??

I see NO PASSION in this football team and it ALL falls on Miles.
We have yet to play a ranked team. The passion will be there the next 3 games. Watch and see. At Least this team is good enough to win and avoid an upset without being up to play unlike many other top ranked teams.

The cuboard was full when he got here and it has slowly drifted away.
Not even sure what this means. I suspect you are talking about talent level. Recruiting experts and football analysts would disagree with you. We may be less talented and some positions and are more talented at other positions. Overall talent level is still good enough to compete for championships.

I am with you PJ. To me there is not anyone I would hire who is available this year. the houston coach will gets some looks b/c he is offensive version of Saban and I bet he can recruit like no one else if he was at a big boy program.

saban coming back here is just wishful thinking. It not going to happen unless we pay him like 8 million a year.
