I just don't understand your train of thought. Multiple 45+ yard field goal attempts sounds more like 'hoping' than strategy - It sounds like a mindset that says = 'this team is better than we are so I better get something while I have a chance.'
Hell, we could have attempted several 50ish yard FGs too, but our strategy was well-founded. Better to pin them back than try a 'hail-mary' FG.
To me the teams were equally matched and LSU clearly was the better team on this day, especially considering the venue. If the gumps cannot get it done in BDS they just can't get it done period.

I love hearing teams say 'we were the better team but we beat ourselves'. The better teams don't beat themselves IMO. That's one of the things that makes them better.

Alabama lost the game. They were unable to put across the points when they needed to. LSU WON!

This is exactly why I don't favor a rematch...they had two chances to beat us...the regular game...and then in overtime...and they still LOST...now they want a third chance?...

People only say this because they missed so many field goals. However they always fail to mention they were 50 yarders. Its insane how out of touch with reality they are. They did a couple things better than we did and vice versa. They also got to play their starting QB the whole game. I'm not saying we weren't planning on using Jefferson, but I am saying we probably weren't planning on using him 80 percent of the game. I'm sure we had to scramble to put a few more plays together for him during the gane that we probably didn't practice nearly as much. Oh and F*CK ALABAMA!

First, don't get into discussions with Bama fans. They might have put 50 yards more in offense than we did but it doesn't matter. I've chosen my words carefully all week. We didn't "beat" Bama like we did Auburn but we did win the game. There are 3 phases of the game...offense, defense and special teams. If they want to claim they outplayed us in 2 of the 3...fine. But in special teams, we won and the score clearly says we won.

We cheated as simple as that.
We are not supposed to have an overall better rushing game because they have TR (with a back up of the powerful Lacy) who can run over us.
In addition, the LSU backs would have to go against the Bama D who are again equivalent to a concrete wall and therefore no yards should have been gained.
The fact that this happened means we should have used Voodoo , which is external interference -> cheating

Since when did field goal attempts of 52 50 and 49 become chip shots. The 44 yard attempt was wide right, but that is right at the edge of his range. Oh, and if we are talking about ifs - what if Jefferson puts the ball in front of Shepard for the touchdown or Ford doesn't step out of bounds with no-one around him? Lose the Stockholm syndrome, it's been a long time since Bama dominated us so it doesn't make sense anymore.
Regarding Bama "outplaying" us, I'm pretty sure one of their championships is the National We Outplayed Every team on our schedule but beat ourselves so we are the BEST National Championship, or maybe they recognized the Championship awarded by the rotary club that year over the we outplayed everyone but .....
