I agree with the original post. I feel bad for the kid. He his trying hard as he can but is being set up for failure. He doesn't deserve the vicious attacks he gets on this board.

The problem is not McCray, it's the one who keep putting him in a position to fail. The guy covers well his problem is that he keeps coming up short. I f he starts making a few plays then his confidence should grow leeps and bounds.

Here is the problem that we as fans always have in evaluating performances: we don't know what play was called.

We assume that McCray was supposed to be in single coverage with one of the best players on Florida's offense.

That doesn't sound right. Maybe because it isn't.

It is my understanding that Harvin should have been double covered. There should have been a corner back behind Harvin.

So, the real goat may not be in the picture.

sorry, but for a reserve player, this is great numbers. the main complaint is that he was burned by percy harvin. well guess the frick what? any other safety in the NCAA would get burned by percy harvin too.

Signed Peyton Hillis.

He actually almost made a tremendous play by deflecting that pass - that it luckily feel right into the hands of the Florida player was very fortuitous for Florida - and to me changed the game right there. Get a lucky one early - its always easier to play ahead than from behind.

McCray is good in run support and aweful in pass coverage. PERIOD. That ain't gonna change. The key question is will Miles change how they play/mis-use McCray.

It is patently silly to make a case for McCray based on one play, but such should be done on the long term pattern, which is as clear as it can be.

He is a great kid who is being mis-hanlded by an incompetant co-DC team. I feel sorry for him being set up to fail by egomaniac coaches who are hell-bound to prove the impossible (that they are right about how he is being used).

This is shameful and is killing our defense, and subsequently our team.

This has been clear as day for over a year now, and IT AIN"T GONNA CHANGE - EVER !!!

If i can't dunk a basketball, I can't dunk a basketball. If i try 1,000,000 times, the 1,000,001 attempt is highly likely to fail. He does not have the speed, acceleration, instincts nor hip flexibility to play the positions he is put in.

what? great coverage and the WR adjusted to an underthrown ball. that happens all the time, not much to do about it

you cant see, but from the type of pattern the WR ran, id bet he got picked

The personnel just does not fit the scheme. When we play two man ( which is what we do a lot of ) you are going to have McCray and a LB matched up man to man on recievers depending on how many split out. this is a recipe for disaster no matter if there is help over the top or not.

I also agree. Nobody has mentioned the push Harvin used to separate himself right before McCray jumped. Also the press said in an article McCray was supposed to have saftey help on the play.

The thing that pisses me off the most about that video is seeing kirston just standing in the middle of field not chasing dick on the fourth down conversion. were they afraid dick was a threat to scramble for a first down?

I can't ask Miles to evaluate his play and make a rational decision on whether to bench him or not?

Sure you can. Are you going to call his house? The Les Miles show or what?

I don't think a message board is a place to criticize a kid who is trying to do his best.

Harvin also pushed off, and it was just as much Curtis' fault for not being over there to help McCray in coverage.

I saw the guy on campus today and he seriously looked depressed. Gotta feel for the guy.
