will be the keys to CLM loosening up on the offensive play calling this season. Most of us realize that CLM is a possession for possession type of Coach and as long as the game is close, he feels LSU has a chance, so he's not as aggressive.

These past few years our sacks and forced turnovers haven't been as high as we're used to and our special teams have been getting dominated. This is why I believe CLM plays it safe but it puts a ton of pressure on your QB's and keeps our defense on the field!

Hopefully under Coach Aranda will get LSU's defense back to creating turnovers so we can see the offense that we all believe LSU is capable of providing! If not, against tough SEC defenses, it will be another year of 3 and outs while hoping our defense can hold up throughout the game all over again!

This will be the difference between 15-0/14-1 and 10-3! I believe Coach Aranda's defense will do it and LSU will have a dominant year! See you all in Atlanta and Tampa, LORD Willing!!!

The thing I really like about Aranda is that he's calculating. He thinks, draws up multiple looks, confusing looks.

I like that.

Looking forward to it.

So LSU had to be safe while Wisconsin's play calling by Aranda was Swiss cheese??? Hmmm, yeah that sounds about right...this board is just littered with idiots or drunkards!!

What I don't understand is, if he places so much emphasis on special teams, why is Peveto still there? Our special teams have underperformed badly for the past two years. I get that he is a great recruiter, but at some point he has to coach too!

Simple. LSU lost touch with Alabama because our recruiting nose-dived. Sure we had highly ranked classes, but they had huge holes in them. We went two years in a row without signing a single interior defensive lineman! We signed one interior linebacker in two years. And we all know how crappy our QB signees were.

This had to be fixed. Miles, to his credit started hiring recruiters rather than guys who were just position coaches. The down side of that, whether we want to admit it or not, is that they're probably not as good at coaching the position. But boy, did our recruiting improve!

The last few years we're recruiting way better than before. Our class rankings have gone up a little, but that's not the main story. We no longer miss on entire position groups.

Miles fixed the problems with LSU football several years ago. It's taken time to see the results. But from now on we'll see more elite teams, imo.

Anyway, that's why we have Peveto.

The jury is still out on Aranda and, for that matter, our QB coming back from the hernia injury and erratic passing habits.
The only one we can count on for predictability is BDP's special teams!

Yes we've been getting destroyed in the field position game! Why we're always pinned back in our own end. Hopefully our punting game will be much improved this season!

The word is Coach Cam's plays are always intercepted by CLM. It all goes through him.

I guess this myth will never die. There are visible differences in our offense with each OC under Miles. Every head coach, with an offensive background, has a say in offensive plays.

Visible difference?
You referring to formations of course.

Toss dive and a go route on the sideline is a toss dive and percentage wise a highly incompleteable ball.

Rick will now go on a rant about points per play and yards per attempt. Thanks.

You clearly dont watch other programs around the country. LSU'S offense uses more formations and variety of plays than most programs.most of these spread teams dont run a huge variety of plays.

No i wont. Im sorry facts about lsu's offense doesnt correlate with your opinion. Thats your problem.

Its really amazing how all these offensive stats were posted ad nasuem when they pointed towards our offense sucking. Now that none of these stats point toward our offense sucking, they are meaning less.

Also, id love to have discussions about how our run game has blossomed under our zone blocking scheme, or discussions about how Coach Craig will help our WR's routes all look exaclty the same,or which one of our dlineman can thrive with 0 technique.
But you dont get those discussions on here. You get the football ignorant posters shitting on every positve thread created. You get poster bitching about Miles because that poster lets lsu football adjust his sense of self worth.

Who is returning punts and kickoffs this year?

I'd prefer Jackson on punts and Guice and Davis/Jackson on kickoffs.

I dont have any reason for this opinion but i get nervous when Jackson is back there receiving punts. Id loke to see him return kicks because all he needs is one misstep and he is gone. Im ready for lsu's special teams to get back to being a weapon and not an Achilles heel.

Would love to see Derrick Dillon get a shot at it.
