I am typically one of the last ones to ever call for a coach to be fired, and I am not calling for Coach Trent to be fired now . . . for basically the same reason I wasn't calling for Brady to be fired: no matter how bad it is, it very nearly always can get worse; that's how we got here in the first place!
But these last two seasons have been epically bad, like maybe the worst since before Pistol Pete was here. I'm fine with Coach Trent getting another year or even two to turn things around, but if Alleva and the BoS pulled the trigger now I wouldn't be terribly worried.

Maybe we can have more than one base line out of bounds play next year!

fwiw....the play never fails..we got more layups then people want to admit..and we never had trouble getting it in...i'm not saying its perfect..but we never got one 5 second violation this year on the baseline.
Now if you want to complain about a inbounds..teach our young guards how to pick and seal when a team presses us

We did get ONE 5 second violation in the Auburn game

We didn't get that many layups off of it. Especially about halfway through the season when everyone knew exactly what play was coming.
Having one out of bounds play is beyond stupid. There is no excuse for it. It's lazy. I don't ever get upset at games, but this was something that really had me pissed when watching LSU basketball.
Talk to Tom Izzo about BLOBs. They steal about 6-8 points a game off of set BLOBS. They have about 15+ plays. It's like the "special teams" of basketball.

I'm not a big fan of Trent Johnson.
Have you ever met him? He's one of the nicest and most generous coaches I've had the opportunity to know. I'm not saying this is reason enough to keep him as a coach, but to say that you're "not a fan of Trent Johnson" is perhaps poorly worded on your part. If you met and knew our last coach, and were so fortunate enough to achieve the same situation with our current coach, you would certainly be a fan of CTJ (and I believe most program supporters were at some point just because of this factor, and perhaps the esteem and prestige of being Stanford's coach).
To this point CTJ does everything required of a coach to a satisfiable level—with the one important exception of winning, and perhaps recruiting. Sure, he pulled a few good players, and we have purportedly good talent coming in, but we can't exactly start hailing "CHAMPIONSHIPS FOR YEARS!!" until we've got a quantifiably victorious product on the court, and that's the only reason to question his recruiting efforts—which, to be honest, I've seen very little complaining from the fanbase upon this aspect of his coaching.
With our last coach, many of the players did not get along with him and they played for themselves more than for the coach. That's not what we have here with Trent, but perhaps it doesn't matter, since winning is all that matters to the fans. Since he's working with some pretty soft and malleable "clay"—that is to say, that he had some fair seasons with the leftovers, and now is working for something that will no doubt be a work of his own—I would suggest laying off on the "not a big fan of Trent Johnson" talk, until you actually know the man. Perhaps you don't like his product or his results, but for godsakes, temper your judgments which are cast upon a man who is doing his very best to bring LSU upstanding young men, and a quality basketball team.
To my knowledge, CTJ has never had a stint with a college basketball program lasting more than four years. He is a winning coach, and he is our coach, so let's see what he can do.

Oh, and cue the "you're an idiot" posts

Yeah, but other than that no big problems with him.

I'm sure he's a great guy. I'm not talking along those lines.
If you want me to re-word it, fine. I'm not a big fan of COACH Trent Johnson. That doesn't mean I don't want him to succeed here. Like I said, coaching changes suck. Hopefully he's here for a while and builds a winner.

Appreciate it. It's not vis-a-vis here on TD, and textual clarity goes a long way in avoiding long-winded responses like you just received

Do people not realize how bad that would screw us to have a coaching change going into this recruiting season?
No more screwed than potentially having a coach who has less than 10 conference wins in 3 years.

Here is the deal, coach Johnson isn't here to be a nice guy

I am amazed the people who still defend this situation. TJ may be a nice guy and we all know what they say about nice guys, they finish last and in our case finish last twice. If you really look at his history it's descent at best, he has won 20 games three times in 12 years, and for the record just about anyone could have won 20 with what JB left him. The Utah coach got fired cause he had two consective losing seasons. We have won 5 games in two years and lost 41 games in two years. Why people are still defending this is unbelievable. I could care less about the talent in this state, his job is to produce a winner, no talent here in the state then go find talent some where else, that is what we should expect out our million dollar coach. Please take him Utah, so someone else can come in here and right this ship.
