What happened to ducre he was rated very high coming out. Will he get some playing time since we need some depth. He was rated the #1 fullback in the country.

He's behind a stable of running backs that would be starters for almost every where else.

The herd of thoroughbreds is thinning, especially at the end of this coming season. I'm assuming he will get his looks. Especially with a new OC who is fond of using a "FB" as a weapon.

Nailed it.

An '18 depth chart before signing day...

Brossette (post knee surgery)
Ducre
Helaire

Crickets...crickets...

Needed another back in this class.

Williams will be back in top form next year and Brossette will have had a full 18 months to recover from his injury and mature. That being said, if Ducre and coaches see a benefit to switching him back to RB now that we have more LB depth, I'm sure they will take a hard look at that.

The evaluation that everything behind Guice is "meh" is accurate, IMO.
If Ducre finds himself unable to compete with Williams for PT, then I've gotta wonder if he is living up to expectations.
We recruit a lot of "athletes" who may deserve a look at RB. If we get Philips, Gay, Chaisson and Taylor, maybe we should consider Devin White as an option for 18...

White has to stay at linebacker. Can't have everyone completely new.

Ducre will be getting a surge of use in the time moving forward. Just wait and watch. He has paid his dues, and he will emerge in a big way in the 2017-2018 timeframe.

I'm not saying he won't be good or even great for us, but what is the basis of people's fascination with Ducre? I feel like I always see his name pop up on here.

I think Darrell Williams needs to get in better shape for next year.
I still want to see Donte Jackson get touches on offense as a scatback type player with that speed.
If Savion Smith or Kristian Fulton emerge, that needs to happen.

His top form has never been that overwhelming.

I think after this year everyone is gonna be okay with Brossette first string, he Lauren on some packages and a 2018 stud freshman working his way in.

Baloney.
LSU has historically enjoyed a huge stable of NFL quality RB's seeking PT, but Guice is the only one of that quality on today's roster.
Williams, our top back up, could not start elsewhere in the SEC, I don't think.

To be fair, look who he was playing behind. He reminds me a lot of Spencer Ware, and I think he will be solid as part of a one-two punch next year.

He isn't half the athlete that Spencer Ware is.

Spencer Ware had one of the best spin moves I can remember, was a phenomenal pass blocker, had great hands, and much better quickness.

The ability to run over people is about the only similarity.

If I remember right D Williams was a late take in that class as he was Arizona St for a long time until LSU finally offered as a RB, kind of similar to another back that just chose the real death valley. I trust our RB evaluations.

Williams saved our arse in the jstate game. But he's been lame as hell since then.

He looks promising in his freshman year, but seems regressed thereafter. His attempts and yards decreased over the years. He probably gained some bad weight that he needs to get rid of.
