Rewatch the final drive. The clock never stopped on first downs and runs OOB.

He was cheated out of 40 seconds and still was a tenth of a second from throwing the gsme winning pass, which was an amazing throw, FWIW.

if he can beat bama, then he'll be up there with matt maulk...a great, serviceable QB

I doubt it.

He could go 20-25 300yds with 3TDs and 1 int against Bama...

Some people on this board will literally see 5 incompletions, a pick and a few lucky throws. That’s it

Etling will never be able to win with some fans. First off this is the Rant where if the starting QB isn’t 30/30 for 580 yards and 7tds he has issues. They all said Mettenberger sucked and would never be good in 2012. Go look at last weeks threads, all these haters were saying “Etling doesn’t check it down enough he doesn’t throw to backs enough, all he does is throw deep and 50/50 balls” then the running backs dominate the passing game and their narrative changes to “oh he doesn’t throw to the WRs enoug”. The truth is it doesn’t make a shred of difference who catches the passes or where they’re caught all that matters is the production. You think Patriot fans were mad at Tom Brady because James White caught most of the balls in the super bowl? You think their fans were saying “why wasn’t he stretching the defense with WRs downfield”? These people are miserable they hate the coach and are looking for anything, imagined or not to tear the team down in anyway.

That fact that you think those numbers are possible is what is so funny

The fact that you took that as a prediction isn’t funny at all. It’s quite sad.

If we had Patterson, and Ole Miss had Etling, LSU would have won 66-3.

Dude I'm sorry but Etling totally outplayed Patterson on Saturday. Hell his backup looked better.

Patterson threw 3 terrible passes ignoring the safety that resulted in picks. His poor decisions gave them no shot to win.

I don't care if he got hurt, those were all bad decisions.

I didn’t say it was a prediction, I said you think it’s a possibility. You must be a Louisiana public school product.

LSU(Coach O) to win or for u not to look foolish? That's an awkward bed u made yourself u genius. All your negativity only hurts our football team. It sure doesn't help it. U stale and old on this board. Go feed some other board your negative BS.

The “gift” almost INT you speak of happened because the receiver tripped and fell...(it was one of those timing routes that Danny threw before the receiver tripped), otherwise it would not have been so easy for the ole miss guy to snatch it...

Are Gage, Chark, and Dillon wide receivers? He completed 9 passes in the Auburn game alone to those three guys....

Hurts has ALL DAY to throw guy! That’s the difference you goof!!! He just sits in the pocket and waits for a receiver to get open...

When has Etling EVER had that luxury?

I don't understand why people are putting so much emphasis on Etling not throwing to WRs against Ole Miss. Did people not see the score board? What we did is what worked, so we kept doing it. It's not enough that we scored 40 points, we have to score 40 points the "right" way?

Etling made some great throws in the Auburn game. He made more risky throws to Chark because we HAD to take more risks to win that game. That seems to be what Canada's offense is. They take what the defense will give them if it's putting points on the board and no risks are needed.

The only thing that I will say is that Etling under throws the deep ball sometimes. Maybe he needs to understand his limitations and time his throws a little better. That's legit criticism. But criticizing him on not completing a pass to a WR in a game when we're kicking arse and putting 40 points on the board is asinine, IMO.
