LSUDad, i saw where you said you sat with my pawpaw in the booth for a spring game.

You gonna be in it this year? If so I'll see you there.

Great post voodoo
And I think it's so cool to read how other people also feel towards DD. I've never had the honor of meeting him face to face, but for him to be so highly thought of, he must truly be a special man, and I agree with the earlier poster that said his wife would have to be some kind of great too. I'm glad to read his site first thing each morning and I really do pray blessings for him, his wife and their family.

I didn't realize Dandy Don was that old. He must be in his late 70's? Early 80's?

Short story I thought i would share:

I once decided to look up Dandy while visiting my Mom in Lafayette. I had tuned into his daily blog for several years, but had not made a contribution, so I thought that I would go to his home and give him the check personally.

He and his wife welcomed me in like a long lost friend. The 3 of us sat at the kitchen table and talked about fishing, football and their children. Turns out I was in the same HS Band with his daughter, who was not a bad drummer and pretty easy on the eyes. Dandy then proceded to show me his PC headquarters in his version of an "LSU Room".

Other than our shared enthusiasm for the Tigers and his overwhelming kindness, and the interesting twist about his daughter, what struck me most about the visit was his sweet wife. She is such a sweetheart, so I know Dandy must be torn up over her degrading condition.

God Bless Dandy and his wife !

My prayers are with Dandy's wife. I've known several of his brothers and nephews for years. I have never met him.

Was this really necessary?

In the poster's mind and many others, yes it is.

Anyway, to the task at hand. During my blessing before lunch, I asked Jesus for blessings upon the family and give them strength during this very difficult time. It's good to know she's in His hands.

Since John hasn't replied yet , along with the fact that Dandy's age has been discussed on this site and I believe on Dandy's own site , I feel it's ok to say he is 72 or 73 ! I've heard Dandy say ( in a light hearted way ) that when he first married his wife , a south Louisiana Catholic ( Ville Platte ) that he couldn't go back to Winnfield for a while !

And what if she didn't?

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad they have their fatih to help them through hard times. To "hope" that for her, however, implies that the suffering of "non-believers" wouldn't bother you so much. It was weird for this thread.

Hold the phone. I believe the poster's intent was to say he hopes she is Christian (and a Catholic is a Christian) because of the belief that she will be taken care of by the Lord in the afterlife.

It is not an attack on non-believers. And it is unfortunate that this issue often turns into an "us versus them" situation on both sides.

my thoughts are with them at this time. I read the his website every single morning. Long before I knew of this site, and was working all over the country, I would get my scoop from Mr. Don. I know many times people on here poke fun at him, and critize him for his fundraising campaign, but I have never felt bad for sending him money every year. My prayers are with his wife and his family during this difficult time.
