As a grown man at the age of 55 and someone who has experienced the loss of a parent, I can only appreciate what his family must be going through right now. He was a great Tiger fan and will be missed by so many, but he is with the Lord and he is in a better place. I wept.

Started reading his post in 2005. His is the first site I visit every day, and no person ever bled purple and gold to a greater degree than Dandy.
May God bless the Long family during these next trying days. Be comforted with the fact that the LSU family holds you in their prayers and thoughts.

I always looked forward to his Thanksgiving stories of when he was a boy. I read them aloud to my wife the last couple of years. I will miss his balance, dedication and professional commentary of LSU athletics. Too much hyperbole and rhetoric is drowning out this site and others. I'll miss his class and portrayal of what an LSU fan should be and stand for....
Well said. Besides his love for the Tigers, I was impressed by his love and devotion to his wife, especially in her illness. My sadness is tempered by the fact that they are now reunited.
Here's to you, Mr Long......

True LSU icon! Begin reading his pages when I lived in hated Tiger land of MS. May God bless your family. Will be missed by many.

When things get bad around here during football or any sports season you could always go and visit Dandy Don's site and feel better about things. You could e-mail him and in most instances he would respond that day.
He was a religious man from what I have gathered he is in a better place.
