I think Tugler and Chest are largely the same player.
they are certainly the same type of player, but to claim they are the same in talent seems a bit unfounded. tugler is better around the basket, better at catching the ball, better in the offense, more skilled. his numbers are magnificent. he is projected to be a second round pick.
sure, chest will probably get better. getting that much better seems unlikely.
chest is like emmit Williams. incredible athlete but not hugely skilled at basketball. whereas tugler is very skilled at play around the basket.
chest and tugler are great athletes that cannot shoot, but play very hard. that doesn't mean they are basically the same player. I think you are a little to eager to find ways to imagine McMahon has failed.

Here's a wild thought. Maybe that's not a result of all 20+ such players being overrated in the offseason. Maybe its the one constant during that whole time being the anchor?
Ding ding ding
We have a winner!

his numbers are magnificent.
Tugler: 22 mpg; 52% FG; 54% FT, 3 orb; 3 drb; 6 trb; 1 steal, 2 blocks, 6 ppg
Chest: 20 mpg, 61% FG, 45% FT; 2 orb; 4 drb, 6 trb; 1 steal, 1 block, 6 ppg
By your logic, so does Chest. They have nearly identical numbers

Tugler's scoring is all putbacks and dunks. He rarely takes shots away from the rim....just like Chest.

I don't have to be too eager. It's not particularly difficult to find ways.
They are the same exact player. The ONLY difference is one plays for a great coach who knows how to play to the strengths of his roster. The other play(ed) for a guy who no one knows what his approach is

I’ve never seen someone be so wrong and so pompous at the same time. Jamar is the next evolution of ranter.

The guy says that Tugler “was easily the best player on that Houston team”. He has no idea what he’s talking about.

I was actually referencing the metrics here:
houston
LINK
and LSU
LINK
these numbers show tugler to be the best player on an awesome team and chest to be 6th best on a shite team. and a net negative on offense.
"BPR: Bayesian Performance Rating is the sum of a player’s OBPR and DBPR. This rating is the ultimate measure of a player’s overall value to his team when he is on the floor. BPR is interpreted as the number of points per 100 possessions better than the opponent the player’s team is expected to be if the player were on the court with 9 other average players. A higher rating is better."
I think those numbers are more reflective of player performance than the simple stats. chest is far worse. he will get better, but as of now he was just decent. tugler was a masterful defender and pretty effective offensive player.

correct we agree that they are the same type of player, we disagree that they are the same talent level doing those skills they both do.

I am a fan of chest and like his style and I hope he does becomes that level of player, altho maybe not because he is at ole miss. but as of right now I think the comparison is absurd. everything about Houston was far higher level than LSU was, chest included.
I understand your frustration with the coach. I don't think you are as sophisticated as you think you are (no offense) I don't think you know the talent well enough to say if it is being under-utilized. maybe the players were just bad. maybe the conference really was awesome. and maybe with a little more cash they can upgrade and compete.

You really need to ditch the inverse reality schtick if you want people to take you serious and not assume you’re trolling. Tugler was barely the 5th starter on the Houston team and isn’t in the same universe as guys like Cryer or Sharpe. Using intentionally biased selective stats and dismissing any other just because they don’t fit a narrative isn’t a comparison at all. It’s nonsense

There’s the little hypocrite. It always comes out when you’re exposed.

Eager to find ways McMahon has failed??????
Helen Keller could find multiple ways McMahon has failed. And she can't hear, see, smell, or spit.
ANYONE that doesn't realize by now that this coach ABSOLUTELY SUCKS is being willfully ignorant, or they're just plain stupid.
We were fine with Wade. Now we're not fine without him. I'm praying for a miracle that we can hire a coach that elevated us to where Tenn, AUB and bama are now. There's no good reason that we can't find and hire that guy.
