Do you think ghat abolishing the death penalty will suddenly result in no innocent people being prosecuted and sent to prison for life?
Is it not possible that having the ultimate punishment on the table make us all take the responsibility of determining guilt beyond a reasonable doubt more seriously?
I’m not saying I’m a DP proponent, I used to not be but the questions I posted above have made me realize that the DP serves a purpose beyond punishment.
