re: Curious: how many people here expect an LSU beat-down of Oregon?

If you can't throw the ball against Oregon, you're going to lose -- period. We'll see.
Leaving your DBs on an island will make it much easier to throw. You've said yourself, UO is going to stack the box to stop the run. You don't think we're going to capitalize on that? My prediction is, we're going to burn your arse the first couple of drives and make your defense respect the pass. Then, when you are on your heals, we're going to pound it and run playaction off of stacked sets. I think 28-17 LSU, with a mercy knee.

Just because you are going to "come at" the run game doesn't mean you are gonna get close to stopping it

By the way, I am anticipating a tough game in which LSU pulls away after injuring half of your starting lineup.
We heard the same with Tennessee fans all last year and with Auburn also on how we would be cut in half, how our QB would be cut in half by Fairly. Fairly btw was not as disruptive as one may think. UO coaching staff purposefully left him unblocked to do the reads off him, which DT had a bad game getting the right reads and obviously that was a bad idea. And did Fairly or any Auburn players cut us in half? Quite hardly. They did however do two dirty plays like twisting a face mask on LMJ when he was down and also kicked a player in the back when he was down, both times the reffs caught it. But if y'all remember correctly it was Oregon's D(not Auburns D)that hurt the QB. As Kenny Row of Oregon a DE hit Cam Newton so hard in the 4th quarter you could see Newton grimacing in pain all the rest of the game.
Your error is in assuming only LSU has a good D. Oregon gave up only one place more in Points per game then LSU did last year. 11th and 12th. And Oregon is going to be much better on D this year, even though they were good last year. And little do you know, Oregon has always been known for hard hitting. Has always been so. The only QB that will get cut in half would be yours, not ours.

I learned along time ago not to feed trolls...just sayin....

You realize Oregon lost the guys responsible for 50% of the tackles last year, and the top 5 on the team in sacks and tackles for loss?

The difference is LSU played the 5th toughest schedule in the country last year, while Oregon played the 59th.

It's possible, but not likely in the first game of the year. Especially with your best CB suspended for the game.

Every year, people forget how tough it is to have it all together early, especially against unfamiliar, quality opponents. Guess what, most LSU fans on this board predicted a beat down of VTech (2002?), Arizona State, North Carolina, Oregon State, and I could come up with a few more, but this, like those games will be an unpredictable game.
New OC and hopefully new scheme. We played well in Dallas early in the year, and we return a lot. Also, during our last two NC years, we absolutely destroyed Virginia Tech and Arizona, although Oregon is much better than both I would think. I predict 28-21 game.

You have to put down the crack pipe and realize that your QB there is going to have to throw the ball. There's no getting around it
Last year I'd say that USC, Stanford, Auburn and Tennessee are the only teams that are even comparable to LSU in offensive line and running backs. I think LSU has better lineman and runningbacks then all these 4 teams, just my opinion.
Those teams averaged for just over 180 yards rushing against Oregon last year. I see no reason to believe LSU won't surpass that mark and go into the low 200's to mid 200's in rushing yards against that vaunted Oregon rush D

Brah you need to take a deep breath and put the Zima down. You're getting a little too excited, and you're not proving anything to us. Our team is in the neighborhood of 35-1 OOC wins, our conference has won the last 5 NC games. We are the SEC. We are LSU. I respect your program, but you are trying a little too hard to pump them up.

Excuse us for salivating at the idea of what our veteran and talented OL will do to your green defensive replacements.
bullshite.
After rotating 25 players each game on Defense last year we are hardly lacking in experience, even if we loose some starters. This just might be the best Defensive unit Oregon has ever had going against you. I chuckle every time some LSU fan assumes that with our D from loosing a few. It is out O-line that needs gelling and wondering who the new WR play-makers will be that is our problem.
We do have the best Offensive and Defensive backfield in College football. All the sports writers easily vouch for the Offense and why that is so, but they have no clue about our Defense.
And loosing my favorite player Cliff Harris will not be a issue in this game. On a scale of 1-10 for pass coverage he is a 10-. For punt returns he is a 10. But for tackling he is a 6. Its not like LSU will even remotely be passing against us, and thus, our other CB's are much better at tackling. So we will not loose a beat with Cliffy out of this game except in the punt return game. LSU will be trying to power it against us, running on almost every play. There are other CB's we have who are better at run support as we are 3-4 deep there with complete studs. Remember, Cliffy was a 3rd stringer at CB the first half of last season as we were so loaded there. And we return them all except 1. His loss for this game will not hurt us one bit. In PAC play, where all the others air it out, we will have him back. LSU really has nothing to salivate over with Cliffy or any part of our D. This game spells doom, doom, doom for LSU all the way around!

Good lord dude.
You're Oregon. Not an SEC team. But Pac 10. Hell, I'm more worried about Mississippi State then some Pac 10 hack.

I just want you to know that its this sentence that made me decide to bookmark this thread, so I can make your arse look silly on September 4. That is, if you show your face, which is highly doubtful. Where do you get this kind of arrogance?

Actually according to "Jeff Sagarin NCAA football ratings" Oregon had the 10th hardest schedule and LSU had the 15th.

So Jeff Sagarin has better rating than the NCAA? Ok...
LSU opponents: 82-49
Oregon opponents: 68-63
Sagarin is on crack.

LSU - 31
UO - 13
Sloppy game, close until the 4th quarter where LSU scores a quick 10 points.
