re: Curious: how many people here expect an LSU beat-down of Oregon?

I would rather have 4 really talented, somewhat unproven backs and a senior laden, great offensive line, than a couple of superstar backs with a decent but unproven OL. And its not just about who starts, but how much experienced depth you have. But if you want to act like your OL isn't a big question mark coming into this season, go ahead. We only have 27 days till we show how much of a problem it really is
I gotcha...but throw in the wild card: a wildly inconsistent qb that has a 3:1 int to td ration (look what I did there). I just don't see how you guys can be overly confident about your offense. AND FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DON'T POST YOUR OFFENSIVE HIGHLIGHTS IN THE ATM GAME as a retort. I know that JJ had a good game finally.

Actually he only threw for 150.Good luck stopping the run.

Also, I am not acting like it's not a question mark. It's not a big question mark though. Greatwood, the oline whisperer, has had a lot less to work with in the past. Our biggest questionmark is at WR. However, we've had a much worse situation there in '09 than this year.

What did Dennis Dixon look like under Crowtons tutelage? And the year after Crowton left?
I have no further questions, your honor.

Nico, Dennis Dixon looked much better than JJ under Crowton.

That's about as funny as your improper use of elementary words like "lose" and "loose", huh?

I think he was actually agreeing with you NICO that Crowton sucks.
Although, I think we can all admit that JJ sucked extraordinarily last year. 4 tds, 14 ints and a 100 yards per game is pretty shitty.
Especially when you consider that your wide receiving corp couldn't have more accolades coming out of high school.

Its hard to tell who he was agreeing with, using only emoticons. But either way, JJ has shown more progression in the last 6 months than any other 6 month stretch in his career. And he has shown flashes of excellence, though I don't expect you to have seen that while skimming through ESPN lowlights of him last year.

Nico, I look at JJ and see an impressive athlete. He looks like he should be good. However, he is missing something upstairs. In the WVU game his receivers bobbled a couple of balls and he couldn't recover from it. He was actually throwing well.
Lot's of players can look good in 7 on 7. That is why the kid out FSU got drafted so high. However, when you put on pads and play the game some kids are gamers and others are practice warriors.
Is JJ a gamer yet? Who knows? That is all that I am saying. I would not be the least bit surprised to see him perform well. However, you are naive to think he is not a wild card. He didn't look good in the spring game as well. We will find out if JJ's progression is for real or myth on Sept. 3.
Btw, Darron is a gamer. That kid has the most competitive juices I've seen in awhile. He came in as a true frosh and almost single handedly brought us back from a big deficit. I like having him on our side. He delivered the ball taking hits.

I could give a shite. I thought this was a football site, not a grammar police blog.
There are few things I detest more. But pretending to be grammar patrol on a chat board is as cheesy as it gets. And someone acting like resident librarian is pathetic. There is almost nothing more pathetic then such a guy, but even more is a retort shifting the topic to a spelling error.

I was laughing because that was funny and I was agreeing with you. Plus, when I talk in person and want to prove my case I use lawyer speak such as 1)exhibit A... 2) I rest my case your honor...
And I found your post humorous. Man, some of you LSU fans have your panties on too tight.

bisonduck, are you in Oregon City right now this moment?
Posted on 8/7/11 at 6:47 pm to DucksflyinPAC
The way I look at the matchup:
Offense:
QB: Oregon
OL: LSU (by a lot)
RB: LSU (you guys have the one great one. . .LSU has a whole crew of slightly less great)
WR: LSU (by a nose)
TE: LSU
OC: Oregon (by a lot)
Defense:
DL: LSU (by a lot)
LB: LSU
DB: LSU (by a lot)
DC: LSU
Does this mean we will blow you out? No. It is all about execution.
The biggest X-Factor to me is time of the game.
-LSU plays lights out for the opening game of the season.
-OU is a mixed bag to open the season.
Ultimately, I think the recipe is a blowout. I think this is the wrong season for OU to play LSU. . .and LSU got lucky with the timing.

The only thing I'd like to say to any Ducks here, is that imagine the Ducks had been National champs twice in the last decade, knocking on the door pretty much every year, and beaten 95% of all OOC challengers in the last decade.
You might have a little different perspective.
LSU knows what it takes to stay at the top.
Oregon, being charitable, has been near the top for ONE year.
It remains to be seen whether or not the ducks can stay at the top. I have NO doubt that they can beat LSU of course. But I'll take my chances with an LSU team, that has faced these high profile OOC challenges every year and that brings back a LOT more experience than Oregon.
I expect LSU to win in a tough game against a great team that possesses several jaw-dropping type athletes. We'll see soon enough.

Yes. By the hospital.
bisonduck,
I live pretty close to the County admin buildings SW of you.
I have long wanted to meet you in person and thank you for keeping up the Western Front.
I was thinking of going to Wichita Pub over near Clackamas Community College. Are you hungry? If you join, I will buy. They have decent food and great Micro beer there.
Interested?

Baker, Minter, Francois and Barrow have all played a good bit at LBer.
Minter will be the key in replacing Sheppard, but I think he's up for the task, just like Riley and Shep were when they took over.

I could not disagree more.
QB: Oregon (this is a given)
OL: LSU(last year UO)
RB: Oregon, we have 4-5 RB's that would be starter for you. Actually know us, and then talk.
WR:LSU(last year UO though by far)
TE: Oregon(we have some great ones and we will feature them this year even more then our WR's)
OC: Oregon, though our OC aint shite, its our HC that runs our O, so Chip Kelly all the way.
DL: LSU (this is a given)
LB: Oregon (this year you have newbs, last year it would be LSU)
DB: Oregon, though LSU's are also very great. UO just happens to have the best DB's in CFB, LSU would be #3rd in nation after Bama.
DC: LSU (this is a given)
Keep in mind, LSU was ranked 11th last year for giving up points on D. Oregon was 12th. So if you think LSU had an incredible D, UO is only one inch behind you. Also, we at UO really believe our D will be much better then last year. I do too. I think you will see UO has the overall better D in Dallas and that is not even including Offenses which, lets face it, #1 in America, and LSU was like 60th or something bad. UO's O might be down 2-3 notches for this game, which might give you a chance of hanging with us. But our D is way overlooked. But you will find out soon enough.
