The people in here making endless excuses for Les

Better change your name to LSUdumbass...

How can you sit there, watching the CONFUSING shite Crowton was trying to pull? He did mass subs, weird arse formations(i remember a lot of pre-snap penalties on offense from lining up wrong) players were utterly confused out there.

Miles HAD to do something. Crowton was trying to run an NFL gimmicky offense at the college level. Anyone who has actually watched the past several years can see this.

I sure did like our simplified offense in the cotton bowl last january. Krags has come in and SAID in interviews that he is keeping the playbook already installed and just simplifying it. A lot. Less formations, less confusing shite and he's actually gonna let the players use their skills.

It's not an excuse either, its a fact. If you want to sit there and believe Crowton was innocent and put all the blame on Miles, go ahead. I GUARANTEE that our offense will be improved this year. Krags is an actual QB coach who can teach mechanics, teach how to read a defense and teach footwork. You will see a less variety of plays, better executed. Book it.

No I didnt read this thread so this may have been said already.

That article doesnt address the disdain BYU fans have and or had for Crouton. It only concentrates on LSU fans.

All I have to say is the truth usually lies somewhere in the middle. And
Option to the short side of the field. If we see it repeatedly then it was all Les all the time...if not.....

Sure it wasnt Crowton.

History dictates your offenses have progressively declined everywhere you have been; Oregon, Byu, & Lsu.

Crowton will probaly have a decent offense at maryland 1 or 2 years then he will suck when his full handprints are on the offense.

Crowton's clusterfrick + Miles play it close to the vest and gamble to win it late = LSU offense.

What is wrong with running options weak?

Nothing if

1). You only do it every now and again to keep the D honest.

2). You dont do it a fourth time when its hasnt worked at all the other 3 times

Hence why i used the word "Repeatedly" in my prior post

Find me a game where we ran the option to the short side of the field more than 2x.

Miles' philosophy and Crowton's plays and calls. Deal with it.

Crowton's faults:

Offense was overly premised upon package and formation.
Offense was not premised upon player talent and abilities.
Offense was not based upon effectiveness or defensive response.
During and after 2008, the vertical passing game was overly restrained and unimaginative.
Passing reads were too complicated.
Offense took too long to operate.

Crowton is probably right if he is saying, 1)we didn't have a good qb, 2) i did a shitty job of developing the qbs 3) miles knew this and decided to keep the games close and not put the defense in a bad spot

Exactly. Crowton has the same pattern everywhere he goes regardless of who's offense he's running.

According to the Rant, that is a true statement. It should always be run to the wide side ... where the strength of the defense is.

"The philosophy that Coach Miles had was to be good on defense, be good on special teams and win it in the fourth quarter," Crowton said.

This is the most ridiculous coaching philosophy on God's green earth. Just plain lunacy! Why don't you win it in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd quarters too?!! Do those quarters not count??!! And he gets a pass with this kind of mentality?? Did Ole Miss and TENN not teach Miles a lesson??!! God help us....

exactly why LSU has so many close games and often plays up or down to the opponent. Its a terrible philosophy

The truth is Les is suppose to have some offensive expertise. He is the head coach so he is obviously responsible for any poor performance of the football team. The bad offensive performance went on 2 years and the former offensive coordinator Les Miles couldn't stop the bleeding.

The problem with Crowton's option is that he always runs it to the short side.
